The window lowering and raising as you open and close the door is normal, it is designed that way to prevent damage to the weather stripping that seals the door glass to the body. The computer controls this action and is activated by the door switch. If the problem is only with the driver door then I would suspect a switch. If the problem is with both doors then I would suspect a computer glitch. Either way I would reccommend taking the vehicle back to the dealer to have it checked out and repaired. Is the car still under warranty?

This is a common problem with power windows. Everytime the driver's door is opened and closed the wires in the harness between the kick panel and door frame get bent back and forth, and eventually they break. You'll have to remove the rubber boot the wires reside in and visually check to see which one is separated. The bad news is that there's little room to work in, and the cure is to solder the wire back together and tape it.

Testimonial: "Your diagnosis is the same as the man who replaced my window regulator & motor. So I am going to the Ford dealer who fixed it the first time for $500."
