Question about Opel Kadett

Blockage somewhere along the fuel line causing the car to cut out suddenly while driving.

Ok, the problem specifically is that the fuel flow will occasionally cut out while driving. The petrol suddenly stops pumping through. The original problem I believe to have been caused by rust that was in my fuel tank blocking the pipe lines or perhaps the pump itself but the fuel line and tank are now more than clean enough. The problem got so bad that I have now removed the part that diverts the overflow of fuel back into the tank and I added fuel filters along the fuel line to try keep the fuel as clean as possible before going into the Carb. I still however have the same problem. In order to get the car going again, its realtively easy though highly annoying. I pull the pipe off at one of the filters, suck petrol through the filter from the tank into my mouth and spit it into the opening of the pipe. I then give a blow to make sure the fuel gets through. Then I reconnect the pipe and away we go. We suspect it may be a problem with the fuel pump but I have opened that up and everything appears to be in working order with no cracks or any visible damage at all. I cannot understand why it still cuts out on me. Any help or ideas will be highly appreciated.

I doubt this is a fuel issue, sounds more like a failing part in the ignition system. Get the engine control module scanned for fault codes.

how hard was it to pump it by hand?Iwould be suprised if a mechanical fuel pump could be easily pumped by hand as the spring pressure required to hold the arm against the eccentric is considerable If its a cleveland or windsor you cannot pump by hand.I own a 1980 running a cleveland and found that if you put an electric pump as close to the fuel tank as possible and have a good original mechanical pump fuel delivery is no longer a problem.I had to do this as soon as i went to a 600 holley as the original pump was not able to supply sufficient flow.the electric pump doesnt have to be an expensive hi volume type,it only has to help to get fuel to the mechanicl pump

first, tap on the gas tank to see if it sounds empty, second, when you turn your key on you should hear the fuel pump turn on (faint whirring sound from gas tank) for a couple seconds.

Get a 5 Gallon gas can fill it up and Pour it ALL in Tank (splash effect)
then turn key ON NOT START just ON till all Dash lights show then turn it off do this 5 times at Liest, and then try Starting Engine.If no start Look under hood at intake Manifold for Fuel Rail, and a small CAP on fuel Rail, this Cap is the test/ Cleaning Point With cap Off depress small PIN in middle of opening KEEP EYES AWAYif it SPRAYS HARD Fuel Pressure is Probably
good if it Dribles out fule Pump is not working correctly BUT if you find that Fues Sprays Good and Hard then NO START PROBLEM

Sounds like an idler issue, adjust it first before doing anything else.

If it turns over your crank is working OK. You are not getting a spark. Check fuel, plugs, wires, and fuel lines.

the purge flow in the evaporative emission control system is incorrect.
if you
the purge flow valve is on the front of the engine bolted to the intake. has 2 big vacuum lines coming from it. the other working part of the system is the vent valve which is located on the evap canistor on the gas tank. you have to have a scanner and go into test mode to active each valve, you can hear them click when activated. if both of those valves are working properly then there is a blockage somewhere in the lines in that system, or the port on the intake is clogged. sometimes this problem can be difficult to find. the dealer can fix this problem, and it is fairly common on most newer mitsubishi's. carbon builds up and can break off and go into the system and get lodged somewhere causing a blockage and not purging the engine of excess unburnt fuel.

Fuel warning light on

its 1 of 2 things.
1: the fuel is low, use a dip stick, if gauge reads ok.
2; or the tank sender is bad, but gauge reads wrong.
3: the guage wire is disconnected, cut or corroded connections.

I have a 2000 e39 530d and the fuse for the fuel pump keeps blowing in the boot even after i changed the pump and relays..what could it be??

do you have the correct size amp fuse in it ?if so then you probably have a wire grounding out somewhere on your frame from the fuel pump

Ran out of petrol started shaking and cutting out now wont start at all

you have probably got a blockage in either the fuel filter or carb,so first check filter,if ok check carb.take fuel line of carb turn engine over see if fuel comes out if it does then filter ok if not change filter,

Crank turns, fuel flowing through rubber lines. wont fire at all, did blow glow plug fuse when driving along, would fire up and then stall, now wont fire at all with fuse rplaced.

if the fuse blew to the heaters then its obvious the wire from the relay box to the heaters is shorting somewhere along the line or one of the heaters itself has burnt out on the end causing this short .

Have you changed the fuel filters lately? If not, do so. They should be changed every spring and fall because of wax build up. This is more critical in the fall, usually mid October, because the wax will stiffen in the cold weather and block fuel flow. Also check the fuel return line for blockage. A copy of Haynes Diesel Repair Manual, part # 10330 could also provide some valuable diagnosis and cure advice. It hqas a specific section on diagnosis and on the 6.2. Hope this helps.

My 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac randomly loses fuel flow.

Sounds like the fuel pump is over heating causing it to blow the circuit. the fuel pump may be bad..Hope this helps.Have a great day

Engine shutting down

check fuel filter.
Fuel Filter
The fuel filter should be replaced regularly. Its performance is reduced by dirt and water collected over an extended period of use.
Replace as required.
