The only way to stop the warning is to either disconnect it or repalce the unit.

I have a 98 ford escort and oil leaks from my oil

Replace the sending unit,, they go bad after a few years,, Plastic core cracks and it allows a leak in many sending units,
not to expensive,, $35 may want a mechanic to install it, you should tape the fitting with teflon tape or use a sealer ( to much is a bad thing) read up on the installation of the sending unit before attempting it ,, if you over tighten it wont make you happy,

Oil light comes on and is dinging.

The oil light has nothing to do will oil level, but rather oil PRESSURE. If the engine oil is full and there is no rattling or banging noises in the engine, chances are the oil pressure sending unit is bad. If noises accompany the light, then shut down the engine and troubleshooting the engines internal lubrication system.

I have a 2006 impala. On the highway the dinging wont go off on the oil light. It says oil pressure low turn off engine but I changed oil today. The dinging just wont stop!! What's wrong??

Hi stevie, your Impala probably has a defective sensor, often called a "switch" that senses the oil pressure. The oil light and chime is a result from a false signal from the bad sensor.
But one cannot take a chance. If the sensor is acting properly, and pressure is low, it could really damage your engine to have low oil pressure and oil not pumping properly. Have it checked now. A new sensor should cost about 60 dollars & takes only a few minutes to install.

Good luck. i hope this helps. Please rate me a FixYa.

I own a 2000 Chyrsler Voyager 3.3 liter-V6 which is just about to roll on 120k miles. Two weeks ago my oil light would come on and ding repeatedly when I came to a stop at random times. I got an oil change...

Two possibilities, either you have a bad oil sending switch or you may have an oil pump that has worn out. I would try to replace the oil pressure sensor first, it's the easiest and cheapest.

I own a 2004 Chrysler Concorde and my oil light comes on when i come to a complete stop and goes off when i accelerate. I have replaced both the oil pump and sending unit and the light is still coming on...

Thats a sign that either you oil pressure sending unit is going bad, the oil pump is going bad, or you have sludge possibly restricting the oil flow thru the screen of the oil pump.

I just had an oil change two days ago. tonight, after 815 miles on the road to fl. our oil light came on along with this annoying dinging. we checked the oil and it is fine, what can it be and any quick...

Good Evening there are a few different things that can be the culprit. First off it could be the oil pressure sending unit, which is a good possibility or the oil pump. Either way the best way to find out is to go to the local parts store and get a mechanical oil pressure gauge and screw it in where the oil pressure sending unit goes most sensors fail however if working the light will come on below 5 or 7lbs of pressure. That is the best place to start. Hope this helps and remember if you have any other questions please feel free to ask.

Oil light comes on

this is an oil pressure light, most likely the sending unit for the gauge is defective, but I do recommened a shop hook up a oil press test gauge and verify u do't really have low oil pressure, then if that tests ok replace the sending unit on the engine.
