Do you still have this vehicle and if so did you ever find out the problem? I am curious because my truck started doing similar things and then stopped running altogether. We have replaced my throttle body (with another used) as well as the map sensor, checked wiring, spark plugs, wires, rotar and cap. Still the issue continues.

I have an 1987 gmc jimmy s15 with a tbi 2.8 v6 with about 201000 miles on it.I've been haveing a few issues with a bad miss and revs at idle and now is blowing black smoke. I've changed the plugs...

Bad miss & erratic idle can be the T.P.S. had the same problem on an 89 S10 & 91 Sonoma. As for black smoke sounds like oil in cylinders. If the truck has REALLY bad blow by & REALLY worn P.C.V. Valve that can make it smoke too. If not then probably the piston rings with that many miles.

I have replaced my fuel pump, filter, throttle position sensor, and relay on my 1992 jimmy. it runs but everytime it hits idle speed it cuts off. what could that be

It should have an idle air control valve which lets air into the intake to control the idle speed. The valve could be faulty, or dirty, or the throttle body could be dirty. The computer opens and closes the valve to regulate idle speed.

87' blazer grill converted to 89' -Help-!!

try checking for a headlight harness that belongs to the 89 and match it, or look for one online. Conversions can change the harness sometimes. You don't have to cut any wires. If you cut wires, sometimes you will have a bigger problem than you thought.
