Glow plug troubleshooting

Connect a volt meter to earth and glow plug supply wire, turn ignition on, should get a battery voltage reading for about 10 seconds, if not the timer relay is not supplying power. If you get voltage, remove the glow plugs and test with an ohm meter for resistance, (no reading? open circuit, not working). Heater relay is a heavy duty relay with a 60amp battery supply, generally in the bulk head area. (DON'T DIRECT FEED THE GLOW PLUG! could burn them out)

Firstly fit a manual overide to the heater plugs .relay -push button type switch -wire -connectors ,run a wire direct from battery to relay ,other side to heater plug relay output so it feeds all the heaters ,push button inside cab with a 12v feed from ignition switch running to relay then other side of relay to earth ,leave vehicle on charge often on trickle charge where possible ,also on a full tank of diesel put in a litre of petrol to stop diesel waxing up ,nice old rug or blanket over engine and it will first time every time ,only use the petrol when weather below minus 5c though ,great vehicles these peugeots but i do like my ford transit

The glow plug light is constantly on the dash on my peugeot

check the glow pulg relay, this may be bad, i would start there first, once the car is started theres no need for glow plugs they are used to start the car and thats it,when the light is on test to see if the glow plugs are getting power if so check the wiring and relay, this is not good for the glow plugs to be powered up so long, that rely must be cooked.

Where is the glow plug controller located on 7.3 f250

Your glow plug relay is located on the top of the engine on the right side toward the front. Some models there are 2 solenoids. A large one toward the front and a smaller one right behind it. The glow plug relay is the smaller one toward the rear. The larger front one is the intkae heater relay. To test the glow plug relay turn engine to on. dont start it. both of the large terminals should have power with key on. then turn engine off. only one large terminal should have power. If when you turn engione to on you only have power on one side then go to this test. Turn engine on and test smaller wire. it should have power. If it does replace the relay. If the smaller wire does not have power you have an ignition problem or power (wiring) problem to the relay.

Having trouble finding out where the two orange wire run to from the glow plug solenoid. the glow plug soleniod on my 2002 250 super duty ford 7.3 is not working and there are two orange wires that i...

Check your solenoid by jumping it with an insulated screwdriver,(connect the 2 and hold for 30 sec.s), (it will spark atiny bit if u wiggle it around,) make sure the truck ignition is in the ON position FIRST , If this activates the glow plug system then the relay itself is the problem. Usually, it seems to me, the problem is the relay (or solenoid),the glow plug controller or the under valve cover wiring. The under valve cover wiring comes attached to your new valve cover gaskets.

Fail to start from cold

check the two glow plug relays in the small fuse box behind the big one.(i know it has no glowplugs but the relays controll the heater) they should be 12 v. or connect a jump lead from the positive terminal on the batt to the foremost connection on the heater. leave for 10-15 secs then start. if it starts the relays are shot. 20£ each from a kia dealer
