1988 Trans Am will not start when ignition is turned all the way.

Take a test light to the small wire on the starter and have someone turn it to the start position. If the light lights up and the engine doesn't turn over, I would suspect the starter itself. If the test light doesn't light, try it in neutral and repeat test. If it still doesn't light up, it may be the PRNDL switch or the ignition switch itself.

The instrument cluster on my 2000 Chrysler Cirrus doesn't work

A mechanic would test the power and ground circuits at the cluster plug, but it may be tough to fix if you can't make the problem happen on demand.

Message "Engine Component Requires Sevice" comes on intermittently but gives no code.

Having a car serviced, is called preventative maintenance,
oil,spark plugs,gas filter,brakes & the like

That has nothing to do with diagnosing your concerns

Checked out, is just that. Someone that doesn't know how to
diagnose your cars problems

You need to have the problem you are concerned about, actually
looked into.
That could be time consuming & costly & may even work out
better for you at a dealership
I would prefer you start with a repair shop as it is cheaper

Bottom line is that no one actually put the effort into finding the cause

A repair shop either doesn't have a data base to learn about your
car or the skills to do the job

They are not going to spend time on something, when they
can not bill you for a lot of hours, you simply won't spend the money,
so they don't fix it

I have a 2006 Toyota Rav4. When I press on the accelerater, it stalls at times. I have h ad 9 months and it has always done it a little. You press on pedal and then hesitates then all of a sudden it just...

Since you have had the problem for months, then I have to ask
basic questions,I'm no Toyota expert, but when you purchase a
used vehicle you need to go thru the entire vehicle & catch up on preventative maintenance, because it isn't likely much was done
before you got it

Example: Install new Spark Plugs, double platinum & the correct
plug,any brand

Install new O2 Sensors
You may want to consider a new EGR Valve
New gas filter & air filter
Check ducting from air filter to throttle for leaks

Now beyond that,I'm not suggesting you throw parts at it,
or that any of those items will fix anything, but it will give you
a base to work from.

What you can not do yourself, but should have done is:

Check the TPS Sensor Voltages
Check Fuel Pressure
Check Fuel Trim,short & long
Check for any dash lights that shouldn't be lite,
& any stored data (codes) etc.

I would use the fuel pressure gauge & scan tool on
a road test,& look at cylinder misfire count

Check for vacuum leaks

Even Smoke test the entire intake & evap system

Consider the exhaust converters may be on their way out

You have to actually be pro active & be determined to first
see what does work correctly, then keep going until you find
something that doesn't

All vehicle issues are the result of doing nothing & only the
so called break down maintenance. That is all a repair shop does

You can't afford to make love all day or several days, to solve
these problems, when your charging a customer, but that is how
you find & resolve them

HAD TRAILBLAZER PUT ON COMPUTER. SAID #3 CYLINDER MISFIRE DETECTED.CODE # WAS P0303.I PUT HIGH GRADE GAS IN, CHANGED ALL 6 PLUGS, AND COIL ON #3 CYLINDER. NOTHING WORKED. IT STILL SPUTTERS.CAN YOU HELP ME...

What money?

Who is working on it,a repair shop?

Plugs don't fix a misfire
A bad coil would,if you got the correct one.

There are no computers used for any automotive
diagnostic work what so ever, unless you run scan
tool software on your notebook

Need to continue to look at all data related to
whatever problem you now have, since changing
plugs & coil

No check lights on dash, doesn't mean they aren't
stored in data

You could have worn out O2 Sensors,Bad TPS Sensor,
Vacuum Leaks & Evap Issues,& any number of things

Look at fuel trim, timing, smoke test intake & evap

My Break, ABS and Trac warning lights all come on at the same time. I can shut the engine down and restart the issue goes away. I t seems to be happening more frequently. My mechanic found nothing wrong...

Nothing wrong. Doesn't that seem strange to you

The ABS & Trac came on because that system has issues

There may be stored data, if not a code present

The mechanic has to component test to find the problem

These guys spend too much time with a scan tool & I
think some of them are waiting for it to tell them something

Doesn't work that way. If everything goes as it should, the
scanner shows what the computer sees, that's all,& that can
be a lot,but you have to move on & use different skills that
not everyone has learned yet apparently

Try another shop

That really isn't a diagnostic test etc, just looking at data
stream,if they see nothing out of range they quit

That doesn't help you any,the problem is still there, intermitent
maybe, but there.

At first blush, it sounds like the distributor cap isn't seated. Since it's happening when the engine is cold and at night, I'm guessing condensation is causing the problem. Try spraying starter fluid on the cap the next time the car doesn't start. This will dispel any condensation. If the car starts, that would be a good place to start.

Go to napa and they have the connectors that plug in to your existing wire connection, I don't know if they have the one for yours, but it won't hurt to check, you don't have to cut or splice the wireing with there trailer connectors, plug it in and done.
