1987-Corvette dome light in car stays on - Cars & Trucks

Your 2000 Corvette has a dome light? They didn't come with one. The interior lights are basically map lights and they are located on the rear view mirror.

You do not give us any engine specs. There is a four cyl and 2 different 6 cyl options for this car. However, basic troubleshooting should work regardless. Turn on your dome light. Try to start the car. Does the dome light go completely out when trying to start? If so, your battery is weak and the starter cannot engage. If the lamp stays bright, then the starter is the most likely problem.

courtesy lights have a 3 position switch 1 is for doors open --on /off 2 is for light off permanent and 3 is for light on in car permanent for reading etc. Other than that check the door switches for a permanent earth fault.

If you take it to a "Autozone", or some other parts stores do it too. They can put a scanner on your car and tell you why the service engine soon light is coming on. Even though the light goes off the computer will store information that can be scanned.
