SOURCE: how to remove a starter on a 1996 s10 4.3 4x4

well most of the time you only have to deal with 2 or 3 very long bolts. look for the starter on the back right (passenger) side of the engine. (for rear wheel drive trucks)it will be a big and heavy(so be carfully) cilinder shape object that is right againts the engine and fly wheel. to remove locate and remove all wires(make note of were they are) and then remove the bolts one buy one. with the last one you may need to hold up the start and undo the last bolts buy hand(after useing a wrench for the first part) it sohuld simply fall off the engine. don't drop it. if it dosen't come out so easly it may be held up buy the flay wheel cover. thin sheat of metal held in place buy 5-7 small screws. easy to uninstall and reinstall

SOURCE: How to replace a front wheel bearing on 1996

The wheel, & brake componets will have to be removed to get to the bearing assembly. Then the center nut and the 4 mounting hub bolts will need to come off. take note of disconnecting the ABS wiring plug to the sensor also

Testimonial: "I will try that I thought it would be more complicated because of being a 4 wheel drive. Thanks for the info and I will try that next week."

You may want to check your ignition switch? If your ignition switch is bad then it will not allow electrical power to your starter. I hope this helps.

I have a Nissan Primera 2002. The battery appears to be fine, although when attempting to start the motor there is a click sound and no engagement of starter motor. What can be the cause of this problem.

Chances are, you have a problem with the solenoid contacts inside the solenoid that is mounted on the starter assembly. It is a very common problem with a lot of the starters used on some Nissan products. Here is a very good site that explains the repair procedure, or you can just have the starter assembly replaced.
