How to change thermostat

The Termostat fit inside the Termostat Housing. It normally links to one of the radiator hoses leading from the engine block or radiator. Depending on the model you have, the termostat housing needs to be opened, the old termostat removed and the new termostat inserted. It's quiet simple. Before closing up, make sure that the both surfaces on the housing are clean and free from dirt and old sealant. If you remove a gasket, then replace with new gasket. If the housing takes a rubber O ring, then it is advisable to replace this.

Good Luck

How to change termostat and or heating coil

You should check out a Haynes manual from your local auto parts store. They'll walk you step by step through the process. They're usually under $20 and they are an amazing wealth of knowledge. You can find out more details at their website www.haynes.com.

With the vehicle cool, remove the radiator cap, and manually pump the lower radiator hose until all the air is out of the system. That is how you get the air out of the system. If it is still overheating from there then you should check the fan to make sure that it is working correctly.

My a4 overheats really fast. While the radiator is cool

The problem may be air locked in the engine causing the thermostat not to open. You may need to bleed the water line some were near the termostat or if it doesn't have one you can run the car without the radiator cap on it for about 3 mins but make sure you are not running hot.then put the cap back on with the heater on blast when the air starts getting hot the termostat has open. If air dosen't get hot then try to do steps again ontil air is hot and temp is about normal. Hope this info helps

My car becomes hot after awhile driving

Before you do that, after you changed the thermostat, did you bleed tge air out of the system? If not, you'll still overheat. Click my screenname, go to my Tips and Tricks, and follow the procedure there for burping the cooling system and see if that fixes your overheating problem.
