Question about Cars & Trucks
Battery and Starter Motor have been checked out and all are working .
If your battery and starter check out fine then back track and make sure ththat you are gettind voltage to your neutral safty switch which is on your transmission,if yuo are getting voltage to the senor then make sure that voltage is leaving the sensor You will need a voltmeter or testlight,i prefer a testlight.Go to the connector and prob the wires,if using a test light turn the key in the off position and then try starting it,when you probe the right wire your light will come on when starting ti and cut off when in the off position, with a voltmeter you will read voltage.after that wire is found then you want to probe the other wires in the same manner, you should find another wire that lights up doing the same test, this shows that the neutral safety switch is sending voltage to the starter and if thats the case Your starter is bad.Iv seen starters that couldnt turn the engine over but woul spin all day long on a starter tester at autozone. If you are not gettinr volatge at the sensor when turning the key in the on position then check your relays by switching them out with other relays and check your fuses. If these ars all good then look at your dash and make sure that you dont have a lil red light blinking on and off or look for the words Detent alarm.if any of these appear then your computer is not reading your key.If all these check out then Your ignition switch is probaly bad.If your ignition switch checks out good then your computer has flipped out.Hope that I was of some help, goodluck.

SOURCE: check engine light code p1603
When I went outside to start my Jaguar X-Type it was cold outside. I was in a hurry and didn't let the car warm up properly. It jumped a bit then the check engine light came on along with a message that said No cruise control. The no cruise light came off but my check engine light is still on. Any suggestions as to what it may be?

I have a 2002 X type (2 litre. done 44000 miles), dash showed gear box problem, (red circle light up). I pulled out and turned the engine off. 5 minutes later turned the engine on. The engine running but the car would not drive either in drive or reverse. Turned the engine off again and on the car driving but not much power. The care is taken to the Jag. dealer and told is misfiring + some gear box faults. Suggesting to change some coils and see (cost about £200+). also possible need to change the gear box costing about £2500+. Please advice. Shall I go ahead with the repair? Should I part exchange.
