Question about 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier
Key will go in but wont turn it seems like steering collum is locked. how do i get key to unlock steering wheel so car can turn on?

All you need to do is turn your steering wheel to the left all the way till it stops then put your key in while still holding the steering wheel to the left, turn the key to the on position this should release your steering wheel!

Jiggle the steering wheel straight then proceed to turn key the steering column gets locked and immobile try that guys/ Please rate my response thank you very much

sounds like your steering column lock is binding you need to slightly turn the steering one way or the other while turning the key at the same time. this happens if the steering wheel is turned after removing the key. or when parked against a curb.

try a spare key, or push key into lock while turning
it is the tip [pointy end] of the key that releases the switch tumbler lock allowing it to turn. keys & switches wear out, a 'heavy' key ring especially wears the switch.
