Disconnect battery cables, good idea to jack up car, install stands for safety. Then begin loosening nuts that hold starter cables. Make sure you remember where they were connected when re-connect in to new starter. Then remove bolts that hold starter to transmission. Re-assembly is the opposite of removal. Prior to install, count gear teeth of both starters and verify they are the same. If nit, could damage flywheel.
yes the starter does have to be removed but also the engine mounts must be also as the engine must be raised about 10 " to get the pan out. if you do try this make sure you have very very sturdy jack stands for the engine to just a jack as the jack will lift it but wont maintain it long enough to safely remove the pan and reinstall it......good luck and be very carefull
borrow some ramps you need to get under to remove the starter. also ask for some one to give you a push start. failing that you will need a jack and lift up the car to get to the motor.
Have you done some work to the vehicle lately that could have caused to codes to be affected? Because I have never heard of the key-code for an original key ever getting corrupted.
You mentioned "Starter is Good" I still wouldn't think changing a starter would affect anything with the electronic ignition system.
yes, anything you can remove to get out of the way helps, including the radiator,, it sure helps with bangs and dings to it , and it comes out easily , the bolts for it are normal threads
starters are actually pretty easy. usually just 2 or 3 bolts holding it on. Just disconnect the battery first. Remove the bolts and the starter and then installation is reversal of removal. Hope this helps, Lee
I don't see how the noise you hear could be coming from the water pump or radiator but yes it could be coming from not having the starter shimmed out far enough from the ring gear. Did you change the starter or do anything prior to hearing this noise?
