1987 Toy P/U JUST QUIT TURNING OVER

This truck isn't driven much, I allowed a friend to borrow it and he drove away and stopped to fill it wil gas and tried to start it again and it wouldn't turn over. There is plenty of battery juice but the starter wont even turn.

I've never had any problems with the starter and it turned over fine 5 or 6 times 30 minutes prior to this event. I start he truck one a week and let it run and then all the sudden it quites. I can push start it just fine.

It appear when trying to start there is a fiant click to the right side under hood.

Is it he starter? Where is it? How hard is it to change out?

Thanks for the help

Yes, that would be the Starter. It is on the Lower part of the Motor on the Passenger Side. Should not be that hard to Change out.

Antifreeze? Hello, not good...Antifreeze is not substitute for fuel - might get it diluted enough if you completely fill tank. Or did you use 'Heat' water removal gas additive? See this post on Yahoo:

Starves for fuel, with half a tank of fuel and turning a corner

are you sure the gauge is accurate? next time you get fuel fill it up and check how many gallons it takes from half to full, cutting out on left turns happens when the gas in the tank moves away from the fuel pump screen, that only happens if you are near reserve.

Engine quit when stopped at stop light. Acted as if it was choking then died. Tried restarting. Turns over strong, no start. Thought maybe no gas. Added gas after about 30 minutes. Started first try....

Sounds like the fuel pump is going out. Replace the filter first, as it's only $10. If that doesn't fix it, then it's probably the pump, which is $250.

Gas Gauge not reading correctly

The most likely culprit is the sending unit in the tank. They are relatively easy to change, as long as you don't have much fuel in the tank. It's a mechanical unit that has a float that raises and lowers with the fuel level, however with age, the floats can develop leaks and no longer float, of the electronic portion of the unit can go bad and not register the proper level. They are replaced and an entire unit, so it doesn't matter which happened, you will need to change the fuel tank sending unit.
