SOURCE: Bonnet cable snapped, need advice on how to open bonnet

If you can, get a hold of the cable somewhere with a pair of pliers and pull it. Did it snap right at the release handle or somewhere in the middle?

SOURCE: VW Bora: Can't open bonnet

first of all not an easy job,you need to get the front grill off and look upwards for a cover that will be covering up the bonnet catch, basicly bend or pull this off,you should then see were the cable goes in,then you should be able to bar the catch with a screwdriver to release it. best of luck

SOURCE: Bonnet release cable is broken - how do I open the

remove the o/s/f indicator this can be done by putting a thin screw driver between the bonnet and wing to push the indicator release tab down. once the indicator is out of the way you can see the bonnet catch behind the headlamp use a torch to locate where the cable should be and pull the latch towards you. it should take you about 10 mins to do this

My Nissan 1400 bonnet does not open. Cable not broken. Seems to me the "release" mechanism is the problem.

Usually there is a spring on the release lever at the end of the cable, this spring may be broken.

You will need to reach up from underneath and either locate the latch and pull it or grip the cable near the latch and pull that to try and release the bonnet catch!

Why 05 pathfinder bonnet wont open

Cable has probably broken or mortally bound-up. Does the release know pull out at all. If not, it's bound-up/locked-up. The latch itself may be the problem.

Nissan micra bonnet won't open

check that the cable did not jump out behind the lever. also ,some cars have electric/ semi electric systems where you need to switch on the key to open the bonnet or the bonnet has a fuse which could be blown. check fuses.

Bonnet cable broken, how to open bonnet

The cable can break either at the left or right hand latch - if you are lucky as I was, the cable operating the left hand catch was the broken one, and was broken near the right hand latch release mechanism.
I was able to open the right hand latch with the bonnet release from inside thecar.
You then have to get a piece of fairly strong wire(I used a 2.8mm welding rod) and bend a fairly tight hook in one end. Using a torch so you can see the bonnet release cable, feed the wire in through the grill and hook the swage on the end of the cable that operated the left hand latch. A frim pull on the wire should then release the left hand latch.
Good luck!

Audi a4 bonnet release mechanism broken

This can be over come by getting a pair of vise grips and gripping the cable that is sticking out and pulling it out, once you have opened it Do not attempt to close the hood without replacing the cable. You have maybe only one chance at this so if you don't succeed you will make it harder for a mechanic to fix it. a new cable is not to difficult to replace, buy the cable and housing replace both.

Hood release will not release hood cable is not broken

the outer cable may have come loose near the lock, if the grille screws are accessable remove the grille and you will have access to the underside of the lock, you may need a screwdriver to push the lock lever aside to unlock the bonnet
