I r&r atleast 20 to 30 blower motors a month and about 85 % of the time the motor has just givin up due to normal wear and tear, and a combination of diferent obstructions, simply cleaning out debris and attempting to fix isnt the solution, blower motors are cheap, and most can be removed& replaced in under 5 minutes

SOURCE: A/C Heater blower fan does not cycle through all speeds

Yes it is the blower Motors Resistor board. It is up behind the blower motor, just under the glove box. You have to remove the black KICK panel with its two "Push Pins" that will break too. There are 3 screws holding that resistor board in, the back two are a bear to get to. Good luck.

SOURCE: My heater blower stopped working

Hello,

The blower motor, as you have probably seen, is under the dash on the passengers side. While in Park with the parking brake applied:

Turn the Key On with fan blower set to High. Locate the blower motor and wiggle the electrical connector. If this brings the blower motor to life, a new blower motor is needed. This, if applicable, is a common failure that matches your symptoms. The new blower is simple to replace, although it is never fun working under the dash.

If you have a 12 volt test light or DVOM (multimeter) you can check for power at the electrical connector. You should have battery voltage (12+) with the blower set on high. Always use a known good ground when testing for power. If you have power (key on, set to high) and no blower operation the blower motor needs replacing.

The resistor you replaced is a very common failure on these.

Give me an update.

SOURCE: Blower motor or resistor?

If it was the motor that went out then it would not blow at all. The resistor is the culprit that starts killing off speeds. It should be about $25 to $30 at an aftermarket store like autozone or advanced auto parts.

SOURCE: Location of blower motor switch resistor on 2004 Grand Marquis

The blower speed controller is located under the hood on the right or passenger side on the heater housing just to the side of the heater hoses near the very back of the right cylinder head.
Yes that would cause the concern you are having.

Check power feed or ground for intermittent connection. Also, check the motor brushes - worn brushes will not make proper all the time contact with commutator resulting in intermittent operation.

I want to know how I can trouble shoot fan blower problem get it behind me?

Your talking about the interior blower? If the first 3 settings don't work, you have to replace the blower resistor. The relay is a different story. Though the relay could be built in the resistor. I'm thinking this is not your case. The resistor controls the speeds of the blower, until it gets to high. Then the relay kicks in to give the blower full power. I would say replace the resistor. I good thing to remember is, If you get any speed from the blower, the resistor is bad. If you get nothing, check the fuse, replace it, if it blows again, replace the blower. If the fuse doesn't blow, then start looking at the controller and wires. This advice goes for all makes and models.
