Replace the main coil where the wires/leads run from.

Loan a free computer scanner from one of the big auto chains and hook it up in the plug under the glove compartment. Write down any error codes and either read them in the manual or search for them on the web. Been there. Good luck.

Sounds like it's not getting enough fuel, check your fuel pressure.

SOURCE: trying to put new spark

Assuming you have a distributer cap/rotor setup are you positive when the number 1 cylinder is at top dead center that the rotor is pointing to the number 1 wire? You could have the order right but the wires on the wrong spots on the distributer. Also, if the cap uses a seperate coil wire, ensure that the coil wire is in place both on the coil and the center of the cap. An easy way to avoid problems like this in the future is to replace the wires one at a time.

I have a 95 honda civic ex,wont start.ran fine yesterday,wont start this morning.battery is fully charged,new cap and rotor.would do u think might b my problem

if it wont turn over 1st check the ground s on the car and the battery 1st. your battery can be fully charged and the car will not start even over night this can happen. then look at the starter. Note: if you have over 109K on the car and the timing belt has never been replaced you will need to have this checked as well.

Truns over but want crank

An engine spinning just means your battery is good and starter works. You'll need to find out if you're getting the other things you need. Those being air, fuel, and spark.
For air, take the air filter out of the picture by removing the air flow going to the carb. Try to start the car.
if it doesn't start, for Fuel, try spraying into the carb some starting fluid then try starting the car. Does it run for a little bit with the starting fluid you just sprayed in there? If so, you've probably got a fuel problem.
If the engine still won't start, take one spark plug out and keep the spark plug wire attached to it. Make sure the spark plug is touching metal so it's grouned electrically, like laying against the engine block. Don't hold the spark plug because you can get a good shock if you hold it wrong. Just lay it on the engine block. Ttry starting the engine and watch for spark at the end of the spark plug. Sometimes the spark is hard to see so doing this at night or in a garage will make it easier to see the spark which leads me to another point. Sometimes your sparkplug wires get so old they electrically aren't any good anymore. You'll be able to know that if you start your car at night and you look under the hood and see little sparks jumping from your spark plug wires to ground. This means your spark plug wires need replacing and that could be your problem. Usually the engine will run when this happens but it won't run very good as most of the spark is being shorted out.
So try to isolate where the problem is...Air, Fuel, or Spark and go from there.

Why won't my car start? It was running last night.

Try start the car again when it is completely dry, if it starts the rain may be short circuiting something on the loom in the engine bay.

If it still wont start,

will it turn over? (car tries to start)
- If it wont turn over the battery would be dead

- If it turns over but wont burst into life then we can go from there ^_^

Coolant on the spark plugs is a classic indication of a failed cylinder head gasket. No point in doing any further analysis 'till you get that squared away. When you replace the head gaskets, it's always advisable to have the heads checked for cracks and warpage.

I have a 97 pontiac sunfire gt i was dirveing the car home last night and my oil light came on apon opening the hood there was a huge amount of oil on the engine on the driver side of the car i had someone...

refill the oil and see if you can get the engine to turn. Try turning the crankshaft pulley with a socket. If the engine will not turn, it will have to be rebuilt. If you can get it started, locate the oil leak and get back to us. Even if it will start, it may need to be rebuilt--we'll have to see how it runs. :-(

Car starts and runs fine until it heats up then it runs rough

Check spark plugs. The back pressure may be causing one or two to fail to spark and ignite the fuel mixture. While at it go out at night and start the vehicle and watch the spark plug wires for sparking to ground. If you see a spark form a spark plug wire change all spark plug wires.
