Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).

SOURCE: Service Due Warning on dash

The correct way to do this is to turn the car off...then hold the "reset" button down, while still holding, turn the ignition on and keep holding a few seconds till it goes off.

SOURCE: 2003 VW Golf - O2 Sensor?

Honestly it is not very expensive to replace, but it is not extremely important. What it does is measure the oxygen/fuel level coming out of the engine. This tells the computer that the engine is either using the right air/fuel mixture or allows the computer to change the mixture slightly to allow the car to run properly. You could pull the sensor out and clean the terminal as it usually has alot of carbon build up due to its location, but this is normally a temporary fix. I hope this helps you with your problem.

Francis, stop trowing parts at the car that you do not need, could it be that all you need is a idle activation, takes 2 minutes with the right vw tool. first you need to get the codes. then you go from there. do not put in any more money to the car. and make sure they use a vw comparable scanner. good luck.

Need to locate and replace glow plugs and glow plug sensor, oxygen sensor in 1998 VW Jetta TDI

One wonders why.
The oxygen sensor is in the downpipe (exhaust) behind the engine undernearth the car.
From memory the glow plugs are below the injectors in the block.
I am sorry but the sensor escapes me.

When you flushed the coolant did you replace with VW rated G12 coloant? Very Important! - You can't use over the counter coolant - it'll cause sludge in your system. You have to use G12...

Check engine light on for sometime; Response to throttle sluggish

If your catalytic converter is "below efficiency" or otherwise clogged, you will lose power as you drive and the vehicle heats. The more you drive the vehicle, the worse the problem will become. The exhaust can't escape properly through the catalytic converter, therefore your engine won't run properly. Your issues are related, and if you replace your catalytic converter they should go away.
