Question about 1995 Geo Tracker

Horn doesn't work, revrese lights won't come on, and 2 of the 3 break lights won't come on on 1995 Geo Tracker. Fuses are good and bulbs are good.

Turn signals work, running lights work. Any ideas?

For how long, 1 day, 1 year , 1 decade? is it a daily driver
or a barn stored, winter car.?

the real question,is there 12v exiting the fuse, the acid test. that.
any volt meter does that in 5min flat.
3rd brake light is bad bulb or corroded socket.
what tranny< 3,4,5,sp.? but in each case it takes a good rev.
switch, if 12v enters said switch and does not exit, its bad.
0v bad,6v rev. path shorted to ground,12v good.
btw, all clamps can short, try 1 new one. in each path all by lonesome. dig?
bulbs good means what.
1: look good.
2: glow when placed on a 12v battery
3:measure 0 ohms with meter (means good or shorted.
4: or they are new and assumed good, (p/n ? what is the p/n?)

head lamps good.? parking lamps, blinker, are all other lamps working. does car start?

To remove the radio:
Remove the ashtray by raising the armrest cover and removing the two screws at the rear of the ashtray. Slide the ashtray back and then lift it out. Be careful of the two front tabs, as you don't want to break them.
Reach below the wood console, where the ashtray front tabs were inserted. Loosen and remove the two wing nuts.
With a small, long flat bladed screwdriver, pry out the leather shifter surround. The leather shifter surround has a center chrome retaining ring, the leather surround, and then finally a black plastic surround. The chrome retaining ring has 3-4 tabs which are locked in below the leather surround. It depends on the year of the Jaguar. Probably the 95 has three, but maybe four. They should be at the front and rear of the trim piece (2 front and 1 back, or 2 front and two back) but I've seen then on the sides. The point is, you have to be careful with the screwdriver and find the tabs. The screwdriver should be slid between the leather and the retainer. Pull upwards on the retainer gently, and as you loosen the tabs, it will come out.
Remove the leather surround. Once the chrome retainer has been removed, it should be easy to work it out of the console.
Loosen the black trim ring gently as it has tabs as well, but they are visible once the leather trim has been removed. Lift it upwards out of the wood trim and pull it to the side out of the way. You don't need to disconnect the wires, just lay the black trim to the side.
Lift the rear of the wood console trim and gently, gently slide it back and up. It will try to hang on the leather console, and can be difficult. Patience is important, as the walnut on the ski slope cracks easy (really easy).
Once the wood console trim (ski slope) is removed, you should have a row of screws up the side of the center control panel, where the radio and AC controls are. There are four to six on each side, depending on what Jaguar used at the time, as the 95 cars mechanically are somewhat of a blend of the XJ40 and the XJ300. Remove these screws, and note any spacers that were behind them. These spacers get lost quickly, and cause the ski slope to sit awkwardly on the console.
The radio will slide forwards once these screws are removed. Remove the radio harness and the antenna lead. As the books say, assembly is reverse of removal.

SOURCE: radiator fan stays on all the time and car runs rough

The fan relay may be malfunctioning (the fan relay is what actually switches the fan on and off and gets its signal from the ECM, which in turn gets its signal from the temp sensor) testing/replacing the relay and temp sensor would be the best thing to start with,... unless you notice any additional (non factory) wire attached to the power wires to the fan.  Sometimes folks, in an attmpt to fix  an overheating or fan relay problem, attach a ignition switched positive lead from the fusebox or other switched source to the positive poer lead on the fan,.. making the fan run whenever the ignition is switched on.

You need to take the cover off your hub and clean and grease the lock ring. It is attached to the spring. It sounds as though your hub is rusted open.

I had the very same problem with my 94 tracker and it turned out to be something simple. My check engine light had popped on after it had hit 100,000. I went through all of the suggestions that people had suggested (unplug battery......etc) and still to no avail. Searching the internet, I came across a website called suzukiforum.com and there, this guy was able to help me with my problem. It turned out to be a maintenance switch that kicks on every 50,000 miles. This switch is like a secret that the auto manufactures use to ploy owners of their cars to bring to the dealer and then rack up the dollars in unnecessary "repairs". The switch is located under the dash and can be hidden anywhere. From the assistance of the guy on the forum, he was able to send me photos of this damn switch and possible locations where it may be mounted. I found mine in about 5 minutes, where it was attached to the steering column. It's a tiny switch, that you slide up or down, depending on what position it is in upon finding it. If it's up, then slide it in the down position and visa versa. Once you do this, the check engine light will go off. Make sure you do not have the car running and you can even unhook one of the battery posts, just to make sure you don't hit anything while rooting around under the dash. Good luck!

after all if a feed is shorted you will blow both. (tested)

the blinker module ,usually dont fail

the black wire ground cut or rusty a body
G200 it uses, and if bad usually kills the engine.
yellow-white must be 12vdc blinks on. key on
switch is bad. i bet this is ok
the relay green is OUTPUT
if the blinker has power it clicks
if it green wire flashes with test lamp the blinker module is good
if the output of the blinker switch is dead L and right
the switch is bad.
assumes both left and right sides not shorted. to ground.

Tail lights dash lights and marker lights not working

backup one and read.

learn that fuse that look bad are bad
fuses the look good can be bad, called hair line cracks poor humans can not see
so we test them and never guess
tail fuse above left knee is in fact blown.
if not the switch is bad.

head lights are not part of this circuit at all, cept plastic knob.

Disabling 1996 Geo tracker car alarm


permanently?
changed in 96. so,... sys. p/n is a dash ..61 now..
i guess you lost the remote fob? or is dead or bad. (programming?)
turn the valet switch to on. its now dead. (on dash switch)

way 2, remove the alarm fuses.
the controller has 2 inline fuses, behind the glove box.
to pin 11 and 12 of controller, RED and GREEN wires.
remove the internal in line fuses, 10A and 12a.'
warning !:once, done , fuse pull the main controller forgets the FOB
key codes, and must be relearned.
need a manual ask.

there should be a switch on the trans for reverse, find it and see if you can by pass it ( connect the 2 wires together) if the lights come on, the switch is bad OR the trans isnt pushing the switch on

My 1995 Geo Tracker stuck in park


Try replacing your brake light switch that is located at the top of the brake pedal arm. It might work if you wiggle or shake the switch but most likely you will have to replace the switch. good luck leave comment.

1995 geo tracker don't know which fuse is for the left and right blinkers since the cover is missing


Easy way to tell if you have a 12V LED trouble shooting light, the one with the light in the handle and wire/clip to it. Ground the clip wire and probe the fuse clip on each side with the turn signal on the light will flash letting you know which is left or right! Easy way to locate circuits without risk of shorts!

1996 Geo Tracker horn won't work. Fuses all look good!


well what i can say is try and rig some wire to see if the horn speaker even works and if does then you may have a short in the wiring in the steering wheel switch try and see if you can close the horn switch under the steering wheel cover where the horn switch is by removing the screws on the back un hooking the wires and then ground it out by touching the center where the bolt is after years of honking the wires may not have gotten a good first connection when the car was first made and may have broke inside and even tho the fuse may look good there might be a break you may not know about its best to use a test light there about 3 bucks and will help better find a bad fuse then just looking to see if its burnt a new fuse can still be a bad one

You must bring the the car to a geo/chevy dealer so they can reset the radio to factory unlock. It might be cheeper to have a new cd radio installed best by is a good place for around $200 a radio can be purched and installed .
