It should be on the engine block close to the oil filter. It will have one wire plugged into it. Use Teflon past on the threads of the new unit and do not over tighten.

My gas hand is bouncing up and down on my 1996 chevy tahoe

The sending in tank is deffective. The sendind unit has a arm on it with a float when gas is lowered or filled it pushes the float up or down a magnetic strip sends the info to the gas gauge on instrument panel. If the unit is defective it gives false readings. Hope this helps!

Transmission wont shift out of park

Try checking the brake light sending unit. Are your brake lights even working. Many newer vehincles will not shift out of park unless the brake pedal is depressed. However, a faulty sendind unit located on the pedal itself can keep you from moving anywhere. Just check to see if your brake lights are working to know if the sending unit is working.
