Location of a 2006 Nissan Frontier hood safety latch release
Just bought a 2006 Nissan Frontier with no manual. I have an 04 Nissan Frontier that opens after pulling the handle inside by releasing the hood safety latch just under and below the middle of the hood. My question is since there is a grille under the engine hood in the middle and on the front of the 2006 Nissan Frontier truck, where do you put your hand to release the hood safety latch on the front of the truck? This may sound like a dumb question, but since I don't have a manual and just got the truck yesterday I am having a hard time with this. Dana

Normally, the cable snaps off from behind the cabin release lever. In that case you can pull the cable end with Locking Grips. If it has broken at the hood end, and they have a history of it, there are videos in the link to get in through the grill.
I think you could use this manual method instead.. My nephew who is a full
time mechanic uses most of the times, and all mechanics look up to manuals. It's very easy Here's the website he bought it from. www.reliable-store.com
If ir is a brand new car there is a safety latch that should hold the hood down. You can pull on the hood to be sure the safety latch is doing its job. Drive the new car take it back to the dealer or where ever you bought it.
They will slam the hood down and smile. Better them breaking the new car than you,'
It may be out of adjustment
You can manually activate the hood latch. There is a hook like assembly that follows the hood latch down when closed. You can activate this assembly by hand. Be sure to release it before attempting to close the hood again.
If it is a used car make sure the handle in the driver side has returned to the home position. If it has I would gently slam the hood down.
you need too get some sort of hook on the end of a handle, something smaller but still strong enough to pull against with out bending or breaking. then standing at the front of the van using a flashlight look through the grill until you find the hood latch, then locate the black cable running into the side of the latch hook on to it and pull as hard as you can while simultaneously bouncing pressure on the font center area of the hood with your other hand until you hear/feel the hood latch release or "pop"!

to repair my car and it's totally perfectly fine now. Here's the website he bought it from. www.reliable-store.com
There is nothing easy about doing this. The cable on Nissan vehicle is encased in a sheath all the way to the point where it mounts to the release itself so there is no way to cut the cable an fish it out with a hanger. Your going to have to try and access it from the very small space between the grill and the radiator mounting bracket area. This sometimes requires the removal of a small underside splash guard that protects that area from debris.
Need alittle more info. Is the handle lifting with little to no resistance, but the tailgate wont release, or can you feel the latch release but it is just jamed and won't open?
I do plan on getting a manual, but don't want my radiator to freeze in the meantime so I would like to to check my fluid out asap. Dana
