My 2000 Oldsmobile Alero wont start! I changed the alternator and had the battery fully charged. I can smell gas so thought maybe the engine was flooded but I waited and its still not starting.

SOURCE: car wont start

First, look for broken or loose wires in the ignition circuit, and the coil wires. Then try fuel filter. Then, ignition module, coil, and timing. It could also be dirty or clogged injectors.

First doublecheck 40 amp ignition fuse in battery fuse box. Then try jumping the solenoid and work your way back along the start circuit, checking the interlock and finally the ignition switch. For details, please see my tip at http://www.fixya.com/cars/r6222268-engine_doesnt_crank_turn_over . These are generic instructions. If you get stuck or need specific instructions for your car, please get back to me with model, year and engine info.

Check the owners manual for the car and look at the fuses. Sometimes theres a fuse for the alternator. If everything is good there check and make sure the power wire going to the alternator is good. It should have battery voltage here.

The alternator is not charging the battery on my 2002 Alero, how do I fix this?

a bad battery would give a wrong judgement of an alternator output. take off your battery and replace with a working one, test your alternator output using a DMM it should read about 12.5 when engine off and 14v when engine start running any figure more or less shows you have a bad alternator or an incorrect input current to the alternator....hope this fixxx it?

Evertime I start my 2000 alero oldsmobile I smell gas, any reasons why?

Usually, it's fuel vapor from an emissions hose you are smelling. If there are no visible signs of a fuel leak---damp or wet at the injectors, connections, fuel filter, then I would suggest a smoke check to find the emissions leak

New battery new alternator new starter and car still wont keep charge

Bad cable or voltage regulator. Depending on the year could be the ECM engine control module.

2000 oldsmobile alero want start

You'll have to figure out if it is a fuel or ignition problem.
Is the check engine light on ? Have you checked for trouble codes ?
It could be a relay, the ignition module, coil, fuel pump, or a list of other things

New battery car wont start.

Sounds like it's the alternator. Not charging the battery. Which would explain why it died while driving.
