You very well could have a Bad Belt Tensioner. Its a Easy Fix, Just get a New Tensioner and get back with me and I will tell you how to Install it. On my 2006 Scion Xa, There is No Tranny Dipstick! This is a Ploy from Toyota to get you to Bring it in for Service. You have the Same Motor that I have in Yours.

Not in mine. But, It has a Toyota Motor in it so, Common Sense tells me since the Years are Similar.............As for the Tensioner------- Just look for the Big and Small Pulleys, The Big one is Above the Belt and Mounted on a Bracket, The Smaller one will be Under the Belt Pushing Upward to Tighten the Belt. Simply Turn the Bolt that is in the Middle of the Large one and it will Lower the Small one and you can remove the Belt so that you can Remove the Tensioner. Pretty Straight Forward once you locate it. PS--Thanks for the Fixya!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Check the sensors on the transmission. May just be corrosion on the sensors or it may be a faulty sensor. Also, the torque converter bearing may have went bad due to the running it on low transmission fluid.

Car makes a loud noise and jerks when I try to put it in a gear.

we might need to know if this is the car's 1st transmission and how many miles are on it --- but tansmissions that make noise and **** when put into gear are transmissions that are low on transmission fluid or have burnt (old) fluid - check your transmission fluid level using the transmission fluid dipstick (its location should be in the car's owners' manual).
If fluid looks dark (significantly darker than new fluid from the bottle), then drain &fill tranny.
If fluid is just low, fill tranny and monitor level for continued leakage.
A word of caution: keep on top of the tranny's fluid level - running on a dry transmission is a really good way to put a 94 Cutlass into the junkyard before its time.

Cant find where to put in tranny fluid on my 1994 mazda mx3

Fluid goes into the tube that the dipstick is in.You need a tube with a funnel on the end and pour it in slowly to the correct level

No dipstick to put transmission fluid into

HI, this transmission is a sealed type. you will need to purchase a special tool from the dealership to fill this unit properly.

Contact the nearest Audi dealer for this fill tool.

00' Kia Sephia LS not shifting past 1st gear

first you need to buy transmission fluid new filter and new gasket.you need 11.4 pints of transmision fluid.raise front of vechicle.set parking brake.block both back wheels.besure support vechicle weight with jack stands. get a drain pan.if your transmission pan dont have a drain plug.loosen rear pan bolts a few turns.remove the front and side transmission pan bolts. let fluid drain.remove tranny pan. then clean old gasket material from transmission and pan carefully.dont scratch or damage surface.clean old tranny bolts using brake cleaner or buy new tranny bolts.you have to put a tiny film of rtv silicone on tranny bolts so they wont leak.carefully remove old tranny filter and put on new filter.clean all grease grim away from tranny pan it should be **** and span because.you might need a little gasket adhesive to hold gasket in place while putting pan back on transmission.to line up bolt holes.loosely put all bolts in you have to move pan a little to get holes line up.when all is finish put tranny fluid back in.besure you put 11.4 pints back in that about 6.5 quarts. make sure tranny fluid level is right before driving vechicle.l

1988 TH400 won't shift correctly

You will need a good manual that is focused on the transmission and possibly someone to lean over your shoulder to help you. Clean workspace is imperative. These are rather easy as you are for the most part stacking parts back into the housing when reassembling it. I would say look for a yard trans to put in it meanwhile and then you can learn at your leisure.

Check the condition of the tranny oil on the dipstick. If it's black and smelly, the tranny clutches might be worn out. Make sure you have enough fluid in there first. Check the fluid with the car engine running and the tranny in park. The level should be between the 2 marks.
