CODE P0430 GMC

As the code description implies the P0430 code means that the vehicle's control module has detected that the three-way catalytic converter is not working properly (is not as efficient as the factory is expecting). Replacing the oxygen (O2) sensors may sometimes fix the code, but in most cases the catalytic convert needs to be replaced to fix the problem. If the P0430 code is combined with other codes, try fixing the other codes first.

P0430 is a catalyst efficiency code. If there are no leaks in the exhaust or any vacuum leaks that could affect O2 sensor operation and the O2 sensors are working properly then it's possible that you need a catalytic converter. If you have access to a scanner capable of reading live data plug it in and take the vehicle on the high way at a steady 55-60 mph. The O2 sensor should read somewhere around 700 mv give or take but should not fluctuate to much. If it does you need a catalyst bank #2. Good luck!

What can i do to fix p0420 & p0430 code.. 2005 ford expedition 5.4 ,,,, can you please tell me where is located p0010 code, A camshaft position actuator circuit/open bank 1... Same truck .. Thank you

p0420 and p0430 both indicate a clogged catalytic converter. the vehicle's control module has detected that the three-way catalytic converter is not working properly (is not as efficient as the factory is expecting). Replacing the oxygen (O2) sensors may sometimes fix the code, but in most cases the catalytic convert needs to be replaced to fix the problem. The p0010 indicates camshaft sensor. The camshaft sensor may be the main problem, as it will affect your timing and fuel/air ratio, which in turn can effect what your Oxygen sensors detect, throwing the p0420 and p0430.

Make sure your car is timed correctly by the timing chain/belt, reset light, then if it dont' solve the problem, change oxygen sensors, if those don't help, catalytic converter is clogged.

I changed out the MAP sensor, and the idle air sensor on my 2006 Ford Taurus. This was before I had the fault code read at a dealer. Code came back as P0340, and P0430 Band 2 cat worn out. I had the cam...

P0340 FORD - Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Bank 1 Sensor 1Possible causes- Faulty Camshaft Position Sensor
- Camshaft Position Sensor harness is open or shorted
- Camshaft Position Sensor circuit poor electrical connection
- Faulty starter motor
- Starting system circuit
- Dead (Weak) battery
P0340 FORD Description The Camshaft Position Sensor is an electronic device used in an engine to record the rate at which the camshaft is spinning. This information is used by the Engine Control Module(ECM) to control ignition and fuel injection. The camshaft position sensor senses the retraction of camshaft (intake) to identify a particular cylinder. The camshaft position sensor senses the piston position. The sensor system consists of a rotating part, typically a disc, as well as a static part, the actual sensor.

When the engine is running, the high and low parts of the teeth cause the gap with the sensor to change. The changing gap causes the magnetic field near the sensor to change. The change in the magnetic field cause the voltage from the sensor to change.

When the crankshaft position sensor (POS) system becomes inoperative, the camshaft position sensor provides various controls of engine parts instead, utilizing timing of cylinder identification signals.
P0430, main catalyst is worn out.

Check engine light on. Starts hard when cold outside, have to give it gas just to start. scan tool says catlyst system efficiency below threshold.

The scan tool is giving you a code for the Rear O2 Sensor
called a Monitor. That means either the sensor is bad or your
exhaust converter has failed (Below Efficiency) as in worn
out.
The materials inside only last so long

Usually about 14 years, unless the engine is running
rich or on most cars today ,you get alot of misfires &
so goes the converter in about 7 years

Hard starts, cold temp issues, etc ,are another problem,
you will have to work on figuring out

How do i fix p0430 code Nissan frontier 2005

A code P0430 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

  • The catalytic converter is no longer functioning properly
  • An oxygen sensor is not reading (functioning) properly
  • There is an exhaust leak

It is most likely that an O2 sensor just prior to the catalytic converter has gone "lazy" and is not reading properly. To remove the O2 sensor, I would soak the sensor first with a rust penetrant and then you will need a 7/8" wrench or socket (depending on the sensor's location).

How do I repair obd code p0430 bank 2?

P0430 means that the O2 sensor behind the catalytic converter is detecting that the catalytic converter is not functioning properly. This can be caused by a bad sensor, and exhaust leak or the actual catalytic converter is bad. Check for leaks 1st. The sensor is changed by unhooking and unscrewing it from the exhaust pipe, the catalytic will need to go to a repair shop. Hope this helps, let me know.

the cam sensor is located to the back of the engine (meaning to the right end of the engine where the transmission is bolted to it) P0340 most commonly is the sensor and what they call the syncronizer you will have to replace them both but be aware that this code can be caused by a wiring concern or a pcm concern,to replace the cam sensor/syncro you will need to make sure the engine is timed properly othewise the code will come right back, they make a timing tool that really should be used when doing this but I have done them in the past with out it and never had a problem. As for the p0430 it means your catalytic converter has went bad and will also need replaced as I recall there are 3 cats on this car p0430 means bank 2 which is the one on the front of the car but I reccommend to replace them all at once because as soon as you get the one replaced the others will start acting up.One other thing do not let someone sell you sensors for them as this will not fix the concern.
