Could be a faulty relay or a problem with the temp sensor.
If the temp sensor fails the computer will turn on the fan to make sure the engine does not overheat.

SOURCE: 1989 F150 ignition cylinder switch

Remove the ignition switch cylinder and inspect the contacts in the column. Look for dark spots, scratches, excessive scuffing. My guess is that cleaning the contacts with a little tiny piece of sandpaper and perhaps bending them out a little (so there is more pressure between the contacts when you reinstall the cyclinder) will cure the problem.

SOURCE: 95 F150 wont crank

the starter should be replaced. The solenoid is kikcing the pinion out but there is no contact being made to turn the starter motor. I have the exact same truck and before i changed the starter used the old starter tap trick. Tap the starter casing with a hammer and it should start turning again. hope this was helpful for you. Good luck.

SOURCE: starting problems

This is caused by the PCM not powering up. I would replace the PCM power relay in the battery junction box(fuse box under hood).

SOURCE: when I turn off my ignition, my heater fan will keep running

I just started experiencing the same problem. Yes, typically after rainy days, I can never get the interior lights to go out after the ignition key has been removed. The car acts as if there is a door open. Now, my latest problem is with the heater fan. Of course, putting the control in the "off" position will turn it off but you can turn it on and off with no ignition key installed. I'm also having problems with my heater core too so it's been a pain in the but!!

I believe this problem has also caused my battery to die which is why I'm on this site in the first place!! I can't get into the car with the keys and the dead battery won't allow me to unlock the car!! When it rains it pours!!!

How do you reset the service engine soon light

Put the key into the ignition and turn it to "Run." Don't start the engine. Press down slowly and fully on the gas pedal, then release it. Do this three times in five seconds. Watch for the "Service Engine Soon" light to start blinking. This indicates that the system is resetting itself. Turn the ignition to "Off" and wait one minute. Start the Century's engine. The Service Engine Soon light will flash for a moment, then turn off. If it doesn't do this, repeat the process.if all else fails...Disconnect your battery for one minute and then reconnect it again that should reset it, if the problem that you have in your car is still there then that light will come on again after whille then you gona need to run diagnostics on your car to find the problem if it will not come on again then that should take care of it.9-08-2006Let me tell you about my experience with my 1995 Buick Century. When my buick sits for a while while running, the radiator fan comes on, you know?Well, after the fan does its thing, SOMETIMES the "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" light comes on.THEN.....when this happens again, it may take a couple times of after the fan comes on, then....the light goes off !!!Its like it needs to go thru some sort of "CYCLE" , THEN THE LIGHT GOES OFF...Who knows though, you may have LEGITIMATE problems with your car.good luck.

My 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo has suddenly started giving me a "check gauges" light when idiling. I noticed that my oil pressure was low, but as soon as I stepped on the gas it would go back...

Sounds like your fan relay is stuck. Look in the engine area for your fuse box, there will be a list for the relays inside. Try pulling the one for the fan. Fans are powered all the time not just ignition on

When I turn my car off the air conditioner still runs-I needed a jump the other day because it ran all night and wore the battery down.

OK, if the relay for the A/C fan is bad, then the radiator's fan will keep running after turning off the ignition. Also, if the fan for ventilation of the A/C in the cabin stays on after the ignition is turned off, the relay for that is bad.

Good luck on this repair.

Heater fan wont shut off when ignition is turned off.

Should have a blower control unit. Sometinmes these are known to leave the blower running on low speed with the key off.

Car was stolen ignition was ripped out of 2002 grandam, now car won't start with ignition and security light keeps flashing

groan.....gunna need a bit more info. but i'll try. What portion of the ignition was ripped out? The tumbler + switch? If so, you might need to get the car's system resent to recognize that it has a new ignition put in. Sime vehicles have a theft prevention system in place to prevent the vehicle from running if its been hot wired. Your best bet would be to replace the damaged ignition components (You did not mention if you did or not). If it still doesn't work after you have replced all of the ignition components. You can try to reset the vehicle (doesn't work on all) disconnect negative battery terminal and go back into vehicle and press down the brake pedal for about 30 seconds then reconnect battery and try it....good luck, hope this helps
