Question about 2005 Ford Focus 2.0

Oil all over top of engine

I have worked on many different types of vehicles. Chevy, Toyota & Dodge. This stinking Ford is driving me crazy. A 5min. cleaning of battery terminals and switching out batteries took an hr. What normal manufacturer would put snap/lock clips on a terminal so you have to carry a tool box just to work on a terminal?? Now w? 90k miles I have oil being thrown all over the top of the engine. Oil pressure good, no low leaks, but check oil always low. Why it's all over the top of the engine...Looking for answers or suggestions. Thank You

SOURCE: 2007 Escape oil pressure issue/oil pump

one thing to keep in mind that even though the vehicle is new you can still have major engine issues, because of the bearing material may have been bad at production.taking this in account any part on a vehicle can fail prematurely either because of poor insatllation or improper manufacturing. As far as oil filters are concerned bthe odds of mechanic installing the wrong filter are slim to none.the oil pressure sending unit only senses that here is oil flowing through it. it doesn't set the light off unless there is absolutely no pressure at all the only way to see the pressure is to have a gauge. oil prssure should be abot 45 psi at 2000 rpms. the only way a filter would effect oil pressure is if it was completely clogged. It would take a great deal of coolant in the oil to ruin a set of bearings and before that happens your vehicle would not run very well and you would notice a great amount of white smoke out the exaust. this would indicated either a blown head gasket.cracked head or a cracked block. you never mentioned what they found in the anaylasis of the oil. I presume that your vehicle is still under warrenty on the powertrain. I would suggest that you have the dealership check your oil pump out. every vehicle will have a small amount of metalic residue in the oil. large shavings and chunks of metal would be a worry. please rate this thanks.

SOURCE: lost engine oil: 2002 Ford F150 Supercrew 4x4 5.4l engine

This is certainly one of the strangest things I have ever heard as a mechanic. . This almost sounds like some one is playing a game of letting your oil out this vehicle. With no visible leaks no burning smell of oil. However I would recommend that you check the coolant in the radiator and see if the oil is in the coolant. (If they are mixing together) If they are mixing the coolant should have a milky look to it, creamish white. If its good then the only other logical explanation is that the vehicle i s burning alot of oil, but if that was true you would see a grayish blue smoke from tail pipe. If you are 100% sure they are no oil leaks on this vehicle, then this problem is surely strange. Check coolant and get back to me. Good Luck

SOURCE: A/C compressor clutch won't engage, system won't cool

Your system might be low on freon. Get a kit with a hose that has a gauge on it so you can see if you are in the "Good" range. The cycling switch won't close unless there is enough freon in the system. You can temorarily jumper the connector for the cycling switch to see if the compressor will come on. If it does, you are low on freon for sure. Do not let the compressor run for more than 15 - 30 seconds with it jumpered.
report back results.

Engine Oil how many Litres & Automatic Transmission Oil how many litres....? Which Oil grades to be used...?

not knowing what it is you drive and the engine, most motors hold 4 to 5 litres of oil with a new oil filter. not knowing what your car is and the year the grade of oil can be 5w30 or 10w30, check with what the manufacture requires. you have the same problem with the transmission question. most hold 5 to 7 litres of trans oil, depending on the transmission, and the oil depends on what make of car you drive as GM vehicles use a different type than say a Ford of Chrysler and even different again with the imports.

I have a message from the computer stating oil service

Many vehicles have computers that monitor the engine rpm, operating conditions, etc. and based on the type of driving you're doing - recommends when the oil should be changed. I have a vehicle that can go a little over 10,000 mi between "change oil" dashboard notifications while a friend of mine has the same vehicle and gets the same notice every 4,000 - 6,000 miles. We drive under different conditions so oil needs to be changed less often for me - and more often for him.

You should be checking your oil at least every few times you stop to refuel - and topping off as needed (unless you'll be changing the oil very soon in which case I wouldn't add any unless very low). Failure to keep engine oil at proper levels can be catastrophic and result in a very expensive repair - all for the cost of adding a $4 quart of oil every now and then - if needed.

Good luck!

Speedometer dont work

which engine, 1MZ? what? the engine dictates the ECU the ECU dictates what scan tool works this year.
what country, not stating that ,makes all answers wrong.
so as always, i post from USA , answers

The speedo on 95 series cars have a VSS,
and if it is dead, the PCM will be glowing the ECU and very unhappy,

so l mr. ABS 100x angry...too.. Ignore ABS for now;.
as they say first things, first.
you turn key , to on, CEL glows, (must) means PCM happy.(self checks)
you start car, the CEL goes out and stays out , does it? no i bet.
you drive, and CEL comes on , you insert the diagnostic, jumper (non IMZ engine)
and bingo CEL flashes out code for VSS dead?

code 9, code 42? others?
post your DTC error code and we CAN fix it.
OBD1: engines.
http://www.troublecodes.net/toyota/

ok , id fix the speedometer first.
sure would.
bad cable? did you test and check the cable yet?
i looked up your car at alldata.com so could you.
VSS is manditory for many ECU/PCM /TCM and ABS functions.
mandatory.
your car i think is USA car, is it? , and if YES< then is OBD2 compliant?
see list of cars below that are, (early OBD2)
so if it is , scan it after driving say 30 miles, or 5miles fast.
got P0500 that is a dead VSS.
fix speedo. now.
any scan tool made for OBd2 works on IMZ engine, here, state side.

My problem is on a 2006 chevrolet ZR71 4 WD COLORADO WITH NOT BEING ABLE TO GET THE ROTOR OFF

The chevy colorado & it's gmc cousin are the
ONLY VEHICLES IN THE ENTIRE WORLD with
captive rotors
They have been on cars in europe, I believe decades
ago
That was one reason I didn't buy one
You have to remove the entire hub assy, steering
knuckle completely, to take off the rotor
Can they be turned then, don't know if they have
brake lathe adapters for those
The next is to use an on car lathe & i won't pay
someone to do that after 49 year of working on my own
vehicles & owning a shop at one time.
Try You Tube Video & Google to see that set up
Absolutely no reason to design that just for one
product line then stop making them & now there is
no explorer sport trac,no dakota,no toyota tacoma, the
same ones,no ford & mazda rangers & many other are gone as as of 2011
Why ---Because in the USA we have a 1955 Chicken Law
that says all trucks have to be made here & the poor chicken
issue wasn't resolved until about 1995 or so. One law for a chicken & and trucks way back in the 1950's, unbelievable
Who wants to drive a big ford you can't work on or a dodge
or chevy that should be on a construction site or farm
I like your truck & it had more issues than any vehicle I have ever seen or any product for that matter.

What kind of oil should i put in my ford focus year 2000.

Hi,

You do not say what size engine is in the car and this is important as different engines require different oils.

Therefore have a look at this handy oil checker - you can input the exact vehicle details yourself and it will advise on the correct type of oil for that vehicle.

Where is the oil filter?

on most vehicles the oil filter is can shaped and mounted on the engine block, and will be found from under neath of the vehicle to change the oil 1 jack the front of the vehicle and secure it on stands 2 place a collection pan under the vehicle (large enough to hold the vehicles oil capacity) 3 remove the plug on the bottom of the oil pan to allow oil to drain 4 use an oil filter wrench to loosen the oil filter (it will contain oil as well) 5 allow several minutes for oil to drain, the longer the better 6 replace the plug 7 pour some oil into the new filter, and oil the rubber gasket on the new filter 8 replace the filter by hand (do not use filter wrench to tighten) 9 tighten the new filter by hand to one full turn after the gasket touches the engine and no tighter 10 refill from the top of the engine to vehicles oil capacity with recommende weigth of oil note. the engines capacity and the engines capacity with filter differ for the filter will hold oil as well 11 lower the vehicle from jack stands change every 3000 miles when driving in town change every 5000 miles when driving on highway
