Oil pressure guage started out by just losing pressure all the way down to zero when at stop and then would go back up once back on gas pedal. Now it is just showing no pressure what could be wrong? is it oil pump or maybe just the oil pressure sensor?

You can buy a oil pressure Gage from the auto parts store and check to see if it is holding pressure. Do you have a oil light come on when it does this? That's usually the back up to the Gage. Also, are you using the right type of oil? Just a thought...

An oil light does not come on it just has a light that says check gauges. I will take it and see if i can get someone to check the pressure i am thinking it might just be the pressure senso

Pete, it is the tendency of an old oil pump to pump weaker as it warms up, pump screen or tube could also be plugging. Could be a faulty gage, maybe try a different gage to verify pump could be wearing/weak.

Why does my bme 318 m46 e43 not picking up oil after i chang oil pump and gears.second hand oil pump and new gears

My first question would be what are your vehicle's symptoms? How do you know that oil is not being pumped around the engine? Are you going by an oil pressure gauge? Is the gauge working properly? Have you tested the oil pressure with a shop gauge to confirm? If so, have you checked the oil filter condition? Have you checked the cylinder compression? Try to include as much information as possible in your description of your issue(s)

What are symptoms of a bad water pump?

Yes, it could be a bad water pump, or a host of other problems. Does your car have an electric fan, or clutch fan? Do you hear it run? What color is the smoke? All of these things can tell you if your water pump is bad, or something much worse. Number 1, how many times have you driven it while it over heated? Check the oil. If it looks very thin, then you have a big issue. If you can take some oil, put it in the palm of your hand, and with your index finger of the other hand, make small fast circle motion on the oil. If you are left with a puddle in the middle of your palm, then you have water mixing with oil. (A very serious problem) Best case, just your water pump. Worst case, blown head gasket, warped head, (worse) Cracked block(new engine required)

How would i no if i need a oil pump?

If you need an oil pump you will be experiencing problems that are associated with low oil pressure. The most obvious sign would be an oil pressure warning light coming on. Other symptoms would be an oil pressure gauge that is reading very low (if your vehicle is equipped qith a gauge). Valves and valve lifters continuously ticking or loud knocking noises in the engine are some of the more severe symptoms.

I have VW bora that the transmission had been rebuild with a new oil pump ,but now the oil pressure is only reading 75 PSI at 2000 RPM what can be the cause

You do not need huge oil pressure to have the oiling system do its job. Pressure can be low, like 20 psi and still lube and protect..... Too high pressure blows seals and the like.... The lubrication system and its pressure depend on all of the clearances to be tight enough (meaning oil pressure lubed areas like cam, crank mains, lifters, rods, etc. So, the top limit of the pressuer is controlled by a relief valve, usually on the pump or the oil filter. this limits the upper amount of pressure that you can develop.

Are you consuming, or burning oil? How many miles before you add a quart of oil? Factories claim a quart in 600 miles okay. But for me, I need 1500 to 2500 miles at one quart is normal....

But Your issue...Are there any other symptoms of anything?

I have a 93 s-10 tahoe and it loses oil pressure after it warms up. could this be the oil pump going out?

THis is the classic symptoms of either a clogged oil screen or a bad oil pump. When the oil is cold (thick) the system is easiest to reach the required pressure. As the oil warms up (thinner) it is difficult to maintain the pressure. Try flushing the engine oil and putingin new oil and filter. THis may solve the problem...if not, look to change the oil pump. Goodd luck..

Hello people, I recently did a full service on my golf3 (changed engine oil and what-not) but my oil light keeps coming on!Solution any1

Yes, if the engine oil and filter has been changed, but the oil light keeps coming on, then there may be pressure issues within the engine for the oil pressure, that is.

Connect a gauge where the oil pressure sending unit usually goes after unscrewing the sending unit, and measure the pressure to see if it within specifications. If below, then the engine's oil pump must be rebuilt or replaced in order to have enough pressure to lubricate the inside of the engine.

Please do this before the engine gets symptoms of oil starvation.

Good luck on this repair.

Oil pressure

Hi. Your symptoms are a strong indication of major sludge build up in the block region. This type of thick build up will clog up the oil ports, thus, reducing the normal flow of lubricant throughout the engine. This will cause fluctuating oil pressure, as well. Although this issue is a common cause of your symptoms, there are others. The next cause of fluctuating oil pressure will be a failing oil pump. This device can fail mechanically(gear failure). When this occurs, the engine oil will not circulate properly, thus causing the symptoms you are experiencing.

In conclusion, This type of problem will require you to administer a manual oil pressure test. This will confirm the oil pump failure. If the pressure test reveals that, indeed, the engines pressure readings are low, the oil pump will be the culprit. I recommend to administer a engine flush, and change the oil pump and oil pump screen, as well. Now, if the manual pressure test reveals that the pressure is optimal, this will indicate that the presser switch(sending unit) is faulty.

You need to get it diagnosed. You may have a ASD relay issue, fuel pump issue, or crank sensor issue. These all could cause this symptom
