If the car still runs then the problem is not major but may develop into one if unchecked. The sensors in the engine may have detected problems and should be stored in its ECU. If you have a scanner have it connected to the diagnostics it should give you a clue on what to check out.

SOURCE: 2003 parking bulb toyota tacoma

OK, I just fixed mine. The unit pulls out. You have to get a screwdiriver, wrap it with a cloth so it doesn't scratch the paint, then gently wedge the entire unit out. When it pops out, you'll see the clips that keep it in place. You might think its breaking when you pull it out, but trust me this is how you do. Just be gentle with it. After you get the unit out, simply take the socket out and replace the bulb. I did it in five minutes.

Can you disconnect the battery to reset a check egine light for a 1997 toyota tacoma?

Shouldn't need to

Best to use a code reader

When you clear the check light ,you clear all data
needed to diagnose problems,so your best to leave
it & when the emission monitors run, it will go out,if
the correct repair was made & no other issues

1999 Toyota Tacoma battery keeps dying

This is easy to test but you need a multimeter. Connect the multimeter to the battery and run the engine at a fast idle (say 2000 rpm). You should get a voltage reading anywhere from 14 to 15 volts if the battery is fully charged and the alternator is working. If the reading is around 12 volts, then the alternator is not working.

My 2004 toyota tacoma refused to start this morning :( It just made a clicking noise. Im wondering if it could be the starter or a battery problem. The truck was running yesterday just fine and I didnt...

Your description sounds like low battery. I prefer not to just replace parts, but rather diagnose what is happening, for example, a dead battery is a victim and not a cause, if headlights were to be left on.

I prefer to fully charge the battery, takes about 4 hours with a shop charger...then load test it. IF fail replace battery and then check charging system. You need 13.8 to 14.5 or so when running at 2000 rpm.

A note about the clicking: in really low state of charge, often you have enough voltage to energize the soleniod, but not enough to turn the engine over, so voltage drops off, and solenoid de- energizes, then this cycles fairly rapidly, that is what makes the clicking noise...

Battery light on, voltage spiking

One of two things is happening, first if you have added an aftermarket stereo or cd/dvd player ,It may not be grounded correctly .
Over time after this install what is known as a high yield hydrostatic charge is discharged throughout the vehicle. Causing a high amount of corrosion on the battery terminals.----and a high amount of static though the cab of the truck as well.. In turn it also creates a fair amount of high charge/discharge in the alternator. As a car is truly a self contained battery charging station.
My solution was first to rewire the ground of the cd/dvd player unit then from there I replaced the factory ground wire with a three lead wire assembly to create a second secondary ground strap attached to the body of the truck using a body bolt on the inside of the hood.
The only other thing that can happen is either the battery or the alternator is going out or a bad connection in that event refer to the service manual as to replace said units

Towing light problem on wiring them up.

It looks like there could be a service bulletin to fix this.

TO: ALL TOYOTA DEALER PRINCIPALS,
SERVICE MANAGERS, PARTS MANAGERS
SUBJECT: SPECIAL SERVICE CAMPAIGN 10H
(2000 TUNDRA AND 1999 - 2000 TACOMA TRAILER TOWING WIRE HARNESS
CONVERTER REPLACEMENT)
Toyota will initiate a Special Service Campaign to replace the Toyota Trailer Towing Wire Harness
Converter (converter) on certain 2000 model year Tundra and 1999 - 2000 model year Tacoma
vehicles equipped with a genuine Toyota Trailer Towing Hitch or Bumper Hitch. This accessory
is included in the Towing Hitch Kit installed at ports (PIO) and by dealers (***); it is also sold by
dealers as an over-the-counter or service part.
An electrical short or open circuit can cause a fault in the genuine Toyota Trailer Towing Wire Harness
Converter (converter). This can cause a failure of the converter, and if a trailer is being towed at the time,
non-operation of the trailer lights. In limited cases, the converter housing could become heat-deformed.
In the case of the Tundra, the circuitry utilized in the converter was inadequate to properly manage
vehicle and/or trailer-side voltage spikes. If the converter is exposed to a voltage spike it may cause an
electrical short or open circuit within the converter.
As for the Tacoma, due to deficient waterproofing and improper installation location of the converter,
which is mounted in the lower portion of the taillight cavity of the vehicle, an electrical short circuit will
occur if water enters the converter housing.
The following vital information is provided to inform you and your staff of the campaign notification
schedule and your degree of involvement.
1. Owner Notification Letter Mailing Date
The owner notification will be conducted in two phases:
• The first phase will be launched in late August and involve vehicles equipped with port
installed (PIO) genuine Toyota Towing Hitch Kits.
• The remaining vehicle owners, whose vehicles may be equipped with a dealer installed (***)
genuine Toyota Trailer Towing Wire Harness Converter, will be notified in the second phase
to be launched in early September.
We have attached copies of the owner notification letters for your reference.
If you are contacted by an owner of an involved vehicle, who has not yet received a notification,
please verify eligibility through TDN or TIS, inspect the vehicle to assure it is equipped with the
affected part, and perform repairs as outlined in the attached Technical Instructions.
