SOURCE: code c1277 (steering angle sensor)

this vehicle uses a steering control module and the antilock control module. Both modules get a signal from the steering angle sensor. We found that the steering module didnot show a steering sensor code but the ABS module did show the code.
after checking that the wiring was intact and with good continuity, it was determined that the fault lies in the ABS module.
A new ABS module and configuration confirmed the diagnosis. It's fixed!

After replacing the rack and pinion the air bag light illuminated and will not go out, 2007 gmc sierra 1500

I would agree it's possible they rotated the steering shaft when they had the steering unhooked, have your airbag codes checked if you have a drivers squib circuit code or a steering angle sensor code then yes they most likely caused the concern.

My ESP light does not illuminate at all,VAGCOM says steering angle sensor permanent,no or incorrect setting, would this cause the light to not work ? Audi TT 1999

Yes, the steering angle needs to be reset and esp should function properly again assuming there isn't an existing problem like a bent tie rod.

2007 xterra had trans rebuilt VDC light on constant and slip will come on and the go off no codes sowing or ABS?

I know this VDC is commonly due to a steering angle sensor.
You need to use an ABS scan tool and check for the following codes.
C1143 (steering angle sensor circuit)
C1144 (steering angle sensor signal)
C1156 (steering angle sensor com cir)
C1163 (steering angle sensor safe)

Unable to repair code C1278

This is a steering wheel angle 1 and 2 fault. You could have an alignment problem, throwing your steering wheel off center causing this code. Take it to a shop and see if I am right, Check the steering wheel to see if it stops in the center when you drive in a straight line and stop. if not the alignment is off. I hope this has been helpful.

How to reset sensor

The steering angle sensor is faulty and should be replaced. Once replaced it will need to be coded with a special tool. There is not a way to reset the sensor without the special tool.

On my passat ESP warning is coming on. i have changed yaw rate sensor allready and ESP warning light is still coming on. what should i do? its Passat tdi 130, 2004. Thanx

You should have the OBD codes checked. This will determine the exact fault. The ESP light will sometimes come on if there is a problem with the ABS or with the steering angle sensor.
Good luck with this
