What oil do I use on a 08 buick lucerne cxl

OIL TYPE

1.GM6094M Your vehicle's engine requires oil meeting GM Standard GM6094M.

2.SAE 5W-30 is best for your vehicle. These numbers on an oil container show its viscosity, or thickness. Do not use other viscosity oils such as SAE 20W-50. Oils meeting these requirements should also have the starburst symbol on the container. This symbol indicates that the oil has been certified by the American Petroleum Institute (API). You should look for this information on the oil container, and use only those oils that are identified as meeting GM Standard GM6094M and have the starburst symbol on the front of the oil container.

NOTICE: Use only engine oil identified as meeting GM Standard GM6094M and showing the American Petroleum Institute Certified For Gasoline Engines starburst symbol. Failure to use the recommended oil can result in engine damage not covered by your warranty.

GM Goodwrench oil meets all the requirements for your vehicle.

If you are in an area of extreme cold, where the temperature falls below -20°F (-29°C), it is recommended that you use either an SAE 5W-30 synthetic oil or an SAE 0W-30 oil. Both will provide easier cold starting and better protection for your engine at extremely low temperatures.

ENGINE OIL ADDITIVES
Do not add anything to your oil. The recommended oils with the starburst symbol that meet GM Standard GM6094M are all you will need for good performance and engine protection.

Someone recommended that I use 20-50. Oil on my 1999 Honda .accord with 133, 000 on it

I would NOT recommend using 20w-50 oil in your Accord at all. The manufacturers state a certain multi-viscosity oil to use in all their vehicles and you should stay with that. Many cars use a 5w-30,5w-20 oil and some should use a 0w-20 oil. Modern engines have tighter tolerances on the internal moving parts of the engine than engines from the 1970's and 1980's. A 20w-50 oil is way too high a viscosity(thickness) to use in todays engines. The first number, say 5w, is the cold start viscosity of the oil so the engine can start easier and have lubrication in cold(winter) temperatures. The second number, say 30, is the viscosity of the oil when the engine warms up to normal operating temperature. The oils have viscosity modifiers in them so as the engine and oil temperatures change(cold to hot, hot to cold), the engine has the lubrication protection it needs to operate correctly. I recommend using a synthetic blend oil that is found in many of todays engines right from the factory and stay with the viscosity that the manufacturer recommends in the owners manual. If you do not have an owners manual, call the dealer service department and ask them.

Can anybody tell me the correct type and weight of oil a 2004 volvo xc 90 uses also # for replacment oil filter

Oil filter is provided by year, make, model of your vehicle at the parts store. ---
Oil and fluids Oil quality
Engine oil must meet the minimum ILSAC specification GF-2, including ACEA A1, API SJ, SJ/CF and SJ/Energy Conserving.
Your Volvo has been certified to standards using ILSAC oil specification GF-2 5W-30. Volvo recommends use of oil with a quality rating equal to or higher than ILSAC GF-2. Equivalent and better oils include ACEA A1, API SJ, SJ/CF, and SJ/Energy conserving. Lower quality oils may not offer the same fuel economy, engine performance, or engine protection.
Volvo Cars recommends Castrol. Depending on your driving habits, premium or synthetic oils may provide superior fuel economy and engine protection. Consult your Volvo retailer for recommendations on premium or synthetic oils. Oil additives must not be used. NOTE: Synthetic oil is not used when the oil is changed at the normal maintenance is carried out. This oil is only used at customer request, at additional charge. Please consult your Volvo retailer. Operation in hot climates.
When temperatures exceed 86° F (30° C) in your area, Volvo recommends, for the protection of your engine, that you use a heavier weight oil, such as SAE 10W-30. See the viscosity chart below. pg129a.jpg Oil viscosity (stable ambient temperatures)
Operation in temperate climates
Incorrect viscosity oil can shorten engine life. Under normal use when temperatures do not exceed 86° F (30° C), SAE 5W-30 will provide good fuel economy and engine protection. See the viscosity chart above. Extreme engine operation
Synthetic oils meeting SAE 10W-30 and complying with oil quality requirements are recommended for driving in areas of sustained temperature extremes (hot or cold), when towing a trailer over long distances, and for prolonged driving in mountainous areas. Changing oil and oil filter
Oil and oil filter changes should be made at 7,500 mile (12,000 km) intervals. Volvo does not recommend the use of oil additives.
Synthetic oil is not used when the oil is changed at the normal maintenance intervals except at ower request and at additional charge. Please consult your Volvo retailer.

Recommended Brand and Grade of Engine Oil for Toyota 4K Engine

If you use a Toyota 4K engine, most manufacturers both engine and oil companies recommend a 20W-50 GRADE motor oil. We recommend Castrol. However, Castrol is kinda expensive. Try Petron Philippines products that can be purchased at their gasoline station shops. Castrol ranges from 800-850 (4-liters) while Petron oil products ranges from 490-550 only (4 liters). They both share the same addtives for 20W-50 oil grade.
