Try putting the key in the driver door lock and turning from lock to unlock. That should dissable the factory alarm system. You may have to do it a few times before it works.

But when I hook the battery up without the key in the ignition the horn keeps going off. If I have the key in the ignition horn won't go off How do I stop the horn from going off

You'll have to tolerate the horn until you do the door trick. Only other thing is if you have the remote key fob, hit unlock when it starts beeping. If you can find the fuse for the horns, unplug it 1st, then procede.

Ok I'll try. But will the horn stop if it's fixed or will I have to try and turn the truck on while the horn is going off

SOURCE: starting problem

This may sound like a problem with a fuel pump. To test if it is with the security system, with a battery in parallel or a working battery, you should be able to disable the alarm via the key or have it manually disabled, then see if it will start

SOURCE: 2001 aurora won't start at all. Hook batery

The security system does not disable the starter, it only disables fuel to the engine. In the fuse block under the hood, locate the STARTER relay. Place your hand on this relay and see if it clicks while someone else turns the key to start...if the relay is ok then the starter itself is faulty. Good luck, i hope this helps.

SOURCE: I changed the battery in

Press station 1 and 6 and turn the ignition key to on position but donot start the vehicle, you will see the unlock code flashing, note the number that is your radio code, read your vehicle manual and insert code to unlock.

2010 Tacoma wont start. It doesn't even click. Radio works windows dont work. door locks dont work. IS this an Anti Theft problem because the battery seems to be ok.

I suspect that the problem will be at the battery. either dirty or loose terminals ( should be shiny clean at posts and terminals) or a faulty battery. have a load test done to determine battery condition as batteries that work ok in warm weather fail in cold weather.

2003 Toyota Tacoma 4wd 4 cylinder it won't fire to spark plugs it acts like it wants to start but wont

Replace spark plugs as they might have been worn and check the specific gravity of the battery checked. The ignition coil also may be causing the problem.

2003 toyota tacoma 2.7L will start but not run,

Start but won't run ??
Have you checked to see if you are loosing spark to the plugs or fuel to the injectors ? Have you checked the fuel pressure at the injectors ?
I would start with that and then proceed.

2001 Toyota Tacoma keeps stalling on start up.

Check the battery cables. I had the same issues with my 96 tacoma, The battery cable connection at the battery can be cranked down but still be loose. Hard to explain, doesn't make sense, but just check it out.

My truck won't start. It won't turn over... only clicking noise.. even with a jump. the headlights work but very dimly.. orange lights next to headlights flash on and off dimly consistently as well...

When a battery is very low, even a jump won't work because the battery takes too much out of the jump. Take the battery out and have it charged up.
If it won't take a charge, get a new one.
But also make sure the battery terminals and cable ends are shiny and greased.

If you really want to be sure, put a voltmeter on it.
A good battery should be 12.5.
When you crank it should go down to about 10.
If it goes below 9, either the battery is too low, or the starter is draining too much.
If it never goes below 11, it is not draining enough, and the solenoid is probably bad.
If when you stop cranking, it comes back up to over 11, then the battery is good, so the starter is probably bad.

are you sure you getting fuel even though you have new fuel filter, check all fuses under the dash to fuel pump and relay under the hood, are you getting sparks? check rotor, cap, coil...make sure you getting 2 important items, gas and fuel to the engine. hope that help some
