Question about 2002 Isuzu Axiom
How can ajusted bands of my transmission
If you're not experienced with this type of repair, I would take it to a local shop or trans specialist for the repair. It's complicated and involves removing the trans oil pan.

SOURCE: 104,000 miles transmission issue
The trans in your vehicle is a 4L30E.The check, and fill plugs are in the pan.The fluid has to be checked after the vehicle is fully warmed up,engine running,in Park. The hard to shift into 2nd gear is kind of difficult to say, check the level, maybe have it scanned for trouble codes esp. if check engine is lit. Those particular transmissions have one weak area, and thats the Low gear,or first gear band and drum. That causes a symptom of slip and chatter on takeoff from a complete stop.

I had the same problem and found it was due to a trans oil leak on the 3rd gear Accumulator. there is a replacement part for the accumulator that will resolve the leak. It is not the easiest job i have done but should be something most could accomplish with moderate abilities. the trans oil replacement is a real pain. get the manual and enjoy, it must be done from under the vehicle.

i have a 2002 isuzu axiom and i have been having some recent problems with my transmission and it took a while to find out but eventually i found out that it has a closed transmission and there is no dipstick there is a fluid resevoir next to the brake fluid but to get the transmission fluid filled or flushed it has to be serviced at a shop

The 2002 Axiom does not have a dipstick to check the transmission fluid. The holding tank is on the right side by the brake fluid. Check your levels & fill if needed there. It has a "sealed" transmission.

The place to start would be to pull diagnostic codes. If I was going to guess i would say a bad output speed sensor.Almost any trans code stored will inhibit fourth gear so guessing is tough.Good luck.
