Uner the hood you should find 2 dipsticks...one on the drivers side and one on the passenger side. the one on the drivers side should be for the transmission and it will show to add if you need to but you have to check it while the engine is running. the best way to tell if you have the right one is that the transmission fluid is red.

You fill the Tranny Fluid Through the Dipstick Hole. You WILL need a Funnel for this.

HI IM TRYN TO BUY THIS 06 CHEVY COLBALT....HAD MY MECHANIC CHECK IT OUT FROM UNDER THE ENGINE TO BASICALLY THE ENTIRE CALL.IT HAS 72000 MILES ON IT.......ARE CHEVY COBALTS GUD CARS...I NOTICED TO IT DOESNT...

  • Hi, I can help.

  • I think the Cobalt is a decent car. not on my top 20 but defiantly worth owning if the price is right and the engine and transmission look clean and drive right.

  • As for the transmission, there is no dipstick. There is a check plug on the transmission just above the pan. I will list the steps on how to check the transmission. To fill the transmission there is a red or black cap that twists and pull up that is under the hood, on top of the transmission.

  1. Warn your car up.
  2. Make sure you are on a level surface.
  3. Put it in park.
  4. Set the emergency brake and leave the car running.
  5. On the back of the transmission there is a little 10mm bolt.
  6. Remove the bolt.
  7. If fluid comes out then it is full.
  8. If not then fluid is needed.
  9. Add just until it seeps out of the hole and that the proper way to fill that transmission.

  • If you have any comments please feel free to leave them here.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

Regards, Tony

Where and how do you add transmission fluid

Look for it good... it's only four ports to add fluids to...1.your engine oil
2.brake fluid
3.transmission fluid
4.radiator
It's there...usually around the right front side of the engine, under the hood. It should say it on it. "Transmission
Fluid"

Usually add about a pint. Not quite the whole bottle. (A Pint).

Can't find where to put transmission fluid in

There is a dipstick under the hood to check the transmission fluid. Pull it out and add right into the dipstick tube. Check the level with the car warmed up after driving, level surface, and the parking brake on and the car in neutral.

Where do I put the transmission fluid in a 2000 dodge grand caravan with a 3.3 liter engine??

You add the fluid in the same place where you check the fluid for the transmission. normally a yellow stick labeled transmission and its under the hood on the driver side of course. 4 thumbs up is appreciated if this helps.

Where do you put in transmission fluid

on that car you most likely need to get under the car and remove a plug from the trans itself to fill it. Remember to have the engine running when you fill and check the level.

Yes. Add it to the same place that you check it.

Transmission

The trans is directly behind the engine, there is no place to add fluid, the trans is a factory sealed unit, crazy but true.

Get chilton's repair manual that covers your car to find the sight/fill hole location. Autozone has This should not really be attempted by a novice since it will require the the car be placed on jackstands or a lift.
