Testimonial: "Thank you Brian. I spent $2.99 on power steering fluid instead of having a huge repair bill right before the holiday. Much appreciated. "

What does the yellow arrow flashing on the dash mean on a 98 s90 volvo

That generally means the transmission, and most likely the PNP switch are malfunctioning.

You can typically limp it along by pushing the button on the shifter and moving it from "1" to "P" back and forth a few times in rapid succession, but ultimately you need to replace the PNP switch.

The OEM switch is about $170 and the aftermarket part is about $70. For this sort of thing, I'd use the more expensive factory part.

They're available at FCPGroton, IPDUSA and eEuroparts and other places.

V70xc 1999. steering was making a moaning sound and it was getting progressively hard to turn. Obviously a leak. Return hose was replaced by indy mechanic with part from Volvo dealer for about $500 parts...

Is it truly a leak? If you are missing that much power steering fluid you would have to have power steering fluid on the floor. In my '98 I was able to use the Dexron type transmission fluid in the power steering. Assuming there is power steering fluid in there - turning the steering wheel from chock to chock several times to get the air out of the system. Let us know that you find.

Wheres the crankshaft position sensor located on a 98 volvo s90

this sensor is located at the end of the block, back side of the block, passenger side, between the firewall and the engine. it is held by 2 six point tork t40 screws. the one on top is very visible, it has a ground wire that attaches to the fire wall. the other one is on the opposite side down below 180 deg apart.

Can you tell me why my volvo 850 t5 estate the steering is very heavy, plenty of steering fluid? sudenly becomes heavy, will then go back to normal then heavy again.

sounds like your power steering is failing, get it checked at a garage asap, steering is important when going fast :), probably needs steering wheel taken apart and power steering components checked for wear/damage.

Volvo S90 1997 transmission

I would recommend changing the fluid in the transmission one or two times, and then re-evaluating its performance.

Weak engine turnover / shaking engine

There could be a few possibilities:
1. Air Mass Sensor
2. Ignition Circuit Units
3. Dirty Idle Valve
4. Dirty Throttle Body
4. Voltage Regulator

Check the above one after another.
