Check your brakelights for operation. You did not indicate what vehicle you drive. On Ford products and many others there is an Interrupter for Safety that requires a combination of Brake pedal action, gear selection, and Ignition key alignment.

At the top of many brake pedal levers there is a switch which often gets hit by the Drivers feet. If broken or misaligned the signal to engage the starter will not reach the starter relay. Check the Brake lights for a sure sign of failure of this connection. If the connection is being made, then check the small wire that sits on top of the starter Relay for a burst of power when the key is turned to START.

At that point, if the power is going to the relay and it does not engage the starter, the relay is bad.

Are there any relays for the starter, have they been checked? Starter has short circuited/burnt out?

first is if your battery is charged and cable connections are clean and you have power everywhere else there is no click ,best way is to get a test light go to ur starter u will find a thick wire going to ur starter ground ur light touch to thick cable on starter check for power .there will be one other connection on starter touch ur test lite to that connection and have someone turn key to start position if it lites and nothing happens its the starter or starter solenoid if it doesnt its probly the ignition switch . but first check all ur fuses with a test lite .also a voltmeter would be your best bet instead of a test lite so u can make sure got 12 volts at test point make sure u got good connections and good grounds a volt meter is better thana test lite for that

Car wont start have power everywhere but when i turn key nothing, could it be a fuse or neutral safty swith? starter new, battery new

alternators usually make a noticeable whining sound when they are going bad. if you picked up a used starter it could have died already. bad starter core. could be a fuse somewhere. idk im not an expert. 2 fuse boxs. under the hood closer to the windshield. the other is in the drivers side footwell. if the turnover clicks starter should be alright. if not you'll need a new starter.

I have a 99 plymouth neon that has power everywhere but when u turn key starter wont turn over there is no click sound or anything

It sound like you might need a new battery. What you need to do is remove the battery and take it your local auto parts store and have them quick charge your battery then apply a load test on the battery.

If your battery is OK. Then there are a couple things that could go wrong. No voltage from the ignition switch to the starter solenoid. Next is the starter solenoid has gone south faster than Willy Coyota can catch the Road Runner. If both are bad then each needs to be replaced or fixed. Also one more thing the alternator gone south. Get you can running and check the voltage across the battery while the car is running it should be about 13.8 to 14.1 volts. GB...stewbison

I have an 86 chev caprice that has no power going to the start but has power everywhere else

Battery, battery cables ( especially the cables off the starter), starter relay , neutral safety switch. These are the items in the starting system worth checking.

2001 saturn sl car wont crank or start.

Sounds like you have a starter issue.

If the engine will not crank but you have power everywhere else I would start by testing the starter. You can remove the starter and take it to an autoparts store for inspection.
