You havw a serious problem with water getting into the oil.
Most likely it is leaking from the head gasket. You mentioned that the head gasket was replaced 6 months ago. Did the cylinder head get re-tighten after several hundred kms. If not this should have been done to avoid this problem.

The mechanic that did the head gasket reckoned it was not necessary to re-tighten the Cylinder head gain. Since I had the car back it still lost water but only about 1 liter per month. Before this problem it as never necessary to replace water between services. Since 1 week ago the car started to lose 1 liter per day and noticed the milky substance in the oil cap. The car do not miss, do not heat up or at least I think so. The heat gage always shows between 80-100, as there is no markings, I would guess it is 90. It never goes higher than that. I have no starting problems or any noticeable performance issues. I had a ressure test done by a radiator company and they cannot find any gasses in water.

SOURCE: Mercedes Benz C180 Fault Message Brake Assist.Visit Workshop BAS

Hi there

BAS is the Brake Assist System and if there is a malfunction it would only come into play in an Emergency stop while applying full pressure. BAS applies full braking force because people tend to lighten up their pressure on the pedal in these situations. I would suggest that the best thing to do is go to a Workshop or Service Center and have it checked out. Please remember to put a good rating on my profile.

Kind regards
Dustin Ellse

I had the exact same problem, went to the Mercedes dealer and they fixed it for free with a pair of pliers. They just pulled up the metal clips and turned them back into place.

My 1997 c class merc 280 has lost compression what can the problem be?

your probably looking at a complete rebuild...worn piston rings, worn valves/ guides, cracked cylinder head, piston, or engine block. If your lucky its just a head gasket, but you would most likely see water in the engine oil (milky looking). Turbo or super-charged- look for problems there also...

Trying to add mobil 1 oil to merc c180 komp how do you get oil cap off im trying to turn it with no luck

Might need pliers as the seal may be stuck. Take a rag so you dont ruin the handle of it, put pliers on and turn lightly.
