Question about 1997 Chevrolet Express
I drove the van, parked it and shut it off for about 5 minutes. Since then it won't start unless we use starting fluid, and even then it won't stay running. We also put in gasline antifreeze thinking that might help, but still nothing.
We think it might be the fuel filter is frozen, but not sure. If so, where would it be?
Gm generally puts their fuel filters on the frame rail on the driver side about half way between the gas tank and the engine.....I'm not too familiar with vans (work on trucks the most) but the chassis designs are very similar. I would also do a check on the fuel pump(have someone put an ear to the fuel filler opening with the cap off and turn the key on......don't try to start just to on ........and listen for buzzing or whirring noise.......)if the pump isn't working you may be able to fix it temporarily by hitting the fuel tank with a hammer. (don't beat on it too hard you don't want to cause damage to it)If this works don't depend on it to work for long, however i had one that would quit almost daily and beating the tank worked for quite some time.
hope this helps!.........keep me posted with comments here and i would be glad to help you further!
