SOURCE: power steering

Sounds like a bad steering rack & pinion assembly... is it only bad in one direction or both...?
If both then it's the rack assembly... Hope this helps...;-)

06 plate maxus steering won't return when cornering changed the steering pump still the same any ideas please

have a wheel alignment done
check the bearings at the top of the strut that allow the steering to turn
if failed they make the suspension spring wind up which accounts for the load on the steering wheel

I went to reverse my car off the drive and my steering wheel has gone totally stiff and the battery light came on although has since gone off the steering wheel will not turn???

Check to make sure your alternator belt hasnt snapped, the same belt usually drives the power steering.

Hard to turn steering wheel when trying to park or sitting still

The only reason the steering would be stiff is if your power steering pump has gone bad or you have no power steering fluid which would also ruin the pump. Hope it helps and check it ASAP
