I have a 1998 nissan turns over but will not start, what could it be?

The fuel pump may have quit on you. The only way i know how to kinda tell right away is to turn the key to ACC with no radio and no blower running in a somewhat quiet environment and listen for the fuel pump to start pumping. if you don't hear the pump then it could be time for a new one of if your lucky a new fuse for it. If you do hear it pumping then if could also be gas line blockage from whatever debris floating in your gas tank. Word of advice if it turns out to be the fuel pump quit, try to not run your vehicle on empty or below 1/8th of a tank because If the pump starts sucking up air bubbles or anything floating in the tank then it will significantly decrease the life expectancy of the fuel pump. Good luck!

New fuel pump worked now dosen't 95 accliam

Check the condition of the fuel pump relay first and the condition of the wiring in both connectors inside and outside of tank second. Check condition of the ground wire return where it attaches to body- it may be broken or corroded. Inside of the tank as well. Also check to see if you have 12 volts at the pump- if not, check fuse and other wiring for damage.

Also check to make sure the oil pressure switch is intact and functioning correctly.

Wont start think it might be fuel relay or pump

the relays are quite dependable now a days, check the fuse for the fuel pump in the fuse panel under the dash if the fuse is good then the relays are under the hood in a large relay can interchange the relay with another relay that is the same as long as the relay is not used to run anything to allow the car to start.this will eliminate the relay.if the fuse is good you can just go from there to have someone bang on the fuel tank near were the fuel pump would be(middle of the gas tank),while someone tries to start the car,if it starts then it is the fuel pump that needs replacing and you won`t have to bother with the relay in the second step mentioned above.also the fuel filter could be plugged but you should hear the fuel pump working first.also just because you hear the fuel pump working it doesn`t mean that it is pumping at the correct fuel pressure

Xterra car quit running. had no spark @ distributor. replaced crank sensor and got spark. no gas pressure. replaced fuel pump, new one do not work. no power to it. checked fuses/relays, no luck. ran...

the fuel pump fuse is fuse #1 15amp in the inside fuse box ( left side of dash behind fuse box cover ) the fuel pump relay is behind left side of dash ------- cavity #2 & #5 at the relay should have battery voltage in start and run cavity # 3 is the power out to fuel pump and cavity #1 is the ground that is turned on by the on board commputer.

I checked all fuses the fuel pump is new but it wont power on. Also bought new computer still dident do anything does the crank sensor have anything to do with the fuel pump kicking on?

no it doesnt it should run a couple of seconds when you just turn key to on.when started it gets a signal from thr cam sensor [in dist.] to keep pump running. there is also whats called an ASD relay that shuts off fuel pump and coil when engine stalls.did you check ALL fuses, not just one labeled fuel pump?some fuses feed other fuses and are not labeled as such.

Fuel pump keeps failing

check the fuel pressure first with a gague the pressure should be at 40-47 psi
does any other things stop working when the pump stops?
it sounds like you have a short to ground in the fuel pump circut, check the circut for any chaffed wires.... there is a fuse in the fuse box there is not supposed to be one on thr frame rail
another possibillity is a clogged fuel filter making the pump work harder and overheating
check pressure wires and replace the filter one of these is your problem
let me know dant forget to rate me
