I could not unlock the doors so being cold and inpatient I hit "buttons". Now when I turn on the car the emercercy lights blink.I have to turn on the lights to stop the flashing. Also my remote still won't work. A guy at a local car dealership told me to hit the lock and unlock buttons at once. I did and the car started but the lights still blinked and I still could not use the remote for locking. I know there is a quick fix but Im not to sure of the two buttons I have to hit to get me out of the problem. I have a Jeep Liberty....The Viper Remote ID is EZ$DE1474V HELP!!!! And thank you TaLane :)

I did go to a dealer for the same problem last year and the guy had me hit 2 buttons on the remote. It fixed all of the problems. I just don't remember what 2 buttons. I should not have to hit the lock and unlock buttons to remote start the car. I should just be able to hit the start button. The problem is with the remote not the car door. I need to know how to reset the remote. :)

I'm at a loss! I turn on the car the turn signals blink outside and the dash lights all blink. The only way to STOP this is to turn on the lights. I need to hit the lock and unlock to remote start the car. Which I never needed to do . All I needed to do was hit the "yellow" button on my remote". The buttons on my remote are = top left "lock, Top right "unlock" , lower left the "AUX" button and the lower right a yellow button with a * on it . I always used this to remote start. I'm sure there is an easy fix HELP!

  • gmagpa521 Jan 12, 2009

I think all of the help is for the Jeep remote. I'm using a VIPER remote.

I just need to rest a VIPER

    Thanks, :)

Remove the batteries from the remote for 3 minutes and then reload them.
If this fails you should remove the battery cable positive side from the battery and then re-install it . this may reset the system.

Try this tidbit:

Program Method

1. Press (LOCK) button 5 times at 2 second intervals to resynchronize transmitter. Attempt to function transmitter, if working as designed discontinue programming.

2. Turn ignition to run position. (Allow ignition chimes[UNLOCK] to stop).

3. Using any original (working) transmitter, press the [UNLOCK] button for 4 to 10 seconds.

4. Within the specified 4 to 10 seconds, continue pressing the [UNLOCK] button and press the [PANIC] button for 1 second and release both buttons. A chime will sound to indicate that the transmitter programming mode has been entered (allow 3 seconds for chime to sound).

5. Press [LOCK] and [UNLOCK] buttons simultaneously for 1 second and release.

6. Press and release any button on the same transmitter and a chime will sound after successfully programming the transmitter.

7. Repeat steps 5 through 6 to program additional transmitters.

8. Turn ignition to OFF position. Transmitter programming mode will discontinue after 60 seconds. (All transmitter programming must be completed within time specified).

Let me know if that did it.

Ok. Sorry missed that. Half asleep. Try this:

All Viper systems are pretty much the same to program.
    Open door, turn key
on(don't start), press and release the valet switch a total of 9 times, but hold on the ninth one, and the
siren should beep 9 times. Then press lock on both of your remotes. Release the valet switch. Turn key off. Test
If it doesn't beep 9x, (beeps more) then turn the key off and back on and try again.

I ain't giving up. lol. Hope this the one.

Hope this helps

(1) Open the driver’s door and leave it open during the programming process.
(2) Move the mechanical door lock lever on the driver’s door to the LOCK position.
(3) Insert the ignition key and turn it to the RUN position. (Do not start the vehicle.)
(4) After turning the ignition key to the Run position aim the transmitter at the receiver and press the LOCK (right) button for 5 seconds. Once the receiver accepts the programming the door will unlock.
Move to Step 5 If you have more than one transmitter you are going to use with this vehicle. Move to Step 6 If only one Jeep remote is used.
(5) If additional transmitters are to be used on the vehicle each must be programmed during the programming sequence. (Up to 4 transmitters can be programmed to a vehicle) To program additional transmitters: Return the mechanical door lock lever on the driver’s door to the LOCK position and aim the next transmitter at the receiver and press the LOCK (right) button for 5 seconds. Again when the receiver accepts the programming the door will unlock. Repeat step 5 until all transmitters have been programmed.
(6) When all transmitters have been programmed to the receiver, the ignition must be turned off and back on within 20 seconds after programming the last transmitter. When this is done, only the transmitters that were programmed to the vehicle during this procedure will operate the locks.

I think it is due to wearing of the internal part of the door mechanism. The handle on the inside of the door will open it. I removed the door inside panel and can see the mechanism but I cannot figure out how to remove it just yet. The window slide rail is in the way. The mechanism is connected with four linkages, the top lock plunger, the door handle rod, the door key rod and the solenoid that actuates the whole thing. The solenoid is pulling but it can't pull hard enough to overcome what is worn. The key also does not overcome it. The door handle will.

Mercedes CLS 500 Why is my door ajar light is on but door is closed

sounds like the door switch is not working find out which door is causing this, Close all the doors and One at a time open a door find the button on the door jamb and press it in, See if the door ajar light goes out, If it does, The door is not pushing the button in enough to turn it off. you can attach something to the door where the button hits or extend the button and make it hit the door.

The security lights blink when door is opened is there a sensor bad?

You may have a bad switch on that door lock, there is a switch on the key cylinder so that when you turn the key to unlock the door it will shut down factory alarm, to see if this is the problem go to passenger side door and use key to unlock the door and see if the light still blinks.

You need to find the black push button called the valet button. That is the overide. Get in the car turn the key to IGN as the alarm is going off and then you have either 5 or 10 seconds to push that button once and then 2-5 seconds later the alarm is shut off. To put the car into valet mode which means no alarm at all you put the key to IGN push that button once then pull key out at which point the blue light should turn solid blue.

Or option two is you open a door and hit the lock, then unlock, then lock button again on the remote and the blue led will be solid which means no crazy alarm.

Door locks lock and unlock by themselves electrical

Possible the system is deactivated.
1. Sit in the driver seat, turn the key on.
2. Hit the unlock doors button 3 time (within 5 sec of each other).
3. Turn the key off and hit the unlock 3 times again.
You should get a chirp from the horn.
If this does not solve your problem, you can try the same proceedure but hit the Lock button Vs the unlock button

'98 Saturn SL1 won't start. Alarm system behaving strangely. Have power, turn key-nothing. Then it will start for no reason. Drove it home (20 miles), shut it off and it won't start again. Changed battery...

I had this same exact problem in a family member's Saturn. If you are opening the door with the key and not using the key FOB to unlock the doors, then the security system will not allow you to start the car. You will notice when this happens that the dome light will blink and you'll hear the relay in the BCM clicking.

In order to stop the security system from doing this: Make sure the car is locked with the key fob by hitting the lock button. Then hit the unlock button on the key fob once and then once again (I do it out of habit). Then open the driver side door, put the key in and it should start no problem.

New key fob

Just get in your vech , close all doors. Using your power lock switch , lock all doors. After doors are locked take your Ignition Key and insert it and remove it from ignition switch in a slow fashion , but consitant pace. (97 and earlyer are fast) When you see the hazzard lights flash, put key in ignition switch and turn to the On postion .. Do NOT CRANK or you will have to Start over .. After in the On postion .. Hit the Lock button on remote... Hazzard lights should flash..( note..you have to reprogram all remotes when adding a new one , if you don't your old remotes will not work ) If your doing just the one , turn igntion switch off and unlock door and get out and try it. If you are doing more than one. While still in Vech with Key on . After you hit the Lock button on Remote and hazzard light flashed .. with key still on .. use master lock switch unlock doors and relock and then hit Second Remote, Lights should flash again , repeat if adding a 3rd remote.. after done just turn key off and unlock door and get out and try. Good Luck :)s.gif

Key fob not working

hello mate.. if it has stopped working you might want to check the battery first.. if you are sure that the battery is fine then consider reprogramming the fob to your car.. here are the steps to follow.. NISSAN

Remote Control Fob Procedures:

The Central Door locking is controlled by the Multi-Remote Control system which controls
the door locking, door super locking and emergency hazard reminders.

When the doors are locked and unlocked the unit flashes the hazard lights once for lock and twice for unlock.

A maximum of four remote controls are allowed to be programmed:

ALMERA
ALMERA TINO
PRIMERA
MAXIMA
MICRA
SERENA
VANETTE CARGO
TERANO II

Ensure all the doors have been unlocked, either by using a good transponder key or remote
control plip key.

Procedure:
1. Turn the ignition switch from Position 0 to ON 6 times within 10 seconds.
2. Next, turn ignition switch to OFF position. Leave key in ignition switch.
3. Wait 2 seconds then the system will enter programming mode and will flash the warning
lights twice.
4. Press and HOLD the unlock button on the Plip.
5. While pressing the unlock button, press the lock button 3 times.
6. Release the unlock button.
7. The warning lights will flash once to indicate successful programming.
8. Repeat procedure 4 to 7 for up to 4 plip key's.
9. When completed turn ignition ON, and the warning lights will flash 2 times.
10. Remove key, and check all plip key's for operation.
NOTE : The programming mode will stop when either the ignition is switch ON, 4 plip keys
have been programmed or no input signal either from the switch or plip keys has been received
for 120 seconds.
