SOURCE: how to measure tappet clearance with dial gauge

When setting tappets, it has to be born inind that the valve stem wears an indentation into the face of the rocker. This prevents a really accurate tappet adjustment, so the customer is right again. If you do not posess a tappet setting dial gauge, a normal engineers dial gauge will do just as well. The procedure is the same as using your feeler gauge except that you set the dial gauge up on the cylinder head with the pointer resting on the head of the rocker. Press down fairly firmly on the rocker valve end and zero the gauge. Next lift up on the rocker and read off the clearance, from the gauge, Use a magnetic base to support your gauge and repeat the pocedure for each valve pair.

How to adjust tappet clearaNCE OF FORD RANGER 12 VALVE

Unless the is a modified engine, there is no setting on the valve clearance. It has hydraulic valve lifters and they don't require any setting of the valve tappets.If they are making noise when it is running the you have a bad valve lifter. Unless you can get some kind of lubricant to add to the oil that will clean the lifters, you may have to install new ones.

I wish to check adjustment of tappet settings and would like to kn ow clearances i have hydraulic tappets. thank you 1966 windsor

Hydraulic tappets are normally zero lash ... not adjustable. That is why they are hydraulic ... the lifter takes up all the 'clearance' and is automatically adjustable.

I need the tappet setting code for a 1995 ford econovan.tappets are noisy.

There's NO code for noisy lifters. Depending on miles and previous maintenance (oil changes, etc) your lofters are probably worn. They need to be replaced and you might have an oil pressure test done to make sure there's is adequate oil pressure.

Wat is valve clearance on ford ranger 2002

If you have a 2.3L engine the tappet to valve clearances are:

Intake = 0.22 - 0.28 mm (0.008 - 0.011 in)
Exhaust = 0.27 - 0.33 mm (0.010 - 0.013 in)

If you have either the 3.0L or 4.0L, there are no adjustments because they use hydraulic lifters.
