Question about 1990 GMC Sierra
Hi, my freind has a 1990 gmc 4x4. her battery kept going dead so she replace the battery. it still goes dead after setting a few days, i think a diode is out in the alternator. the other problems are the dashlights, taillights, domelights, and now the headlights dont work. i heard something pop when i was charging the batter and turned on the headlights to see if they worked. the fuses appear good by sight. i think the fusible links could be blown because she said all the lights quit working when she put the battery in.
SOURCE: Taillight fuse locotion
The fuse-block is located on the left end of the instrument panel under a cover. (It should have a diagram on the inside as to which fuse controls which circuit). If it isn't a fuse,it may be a defective headlight switch.

If your Sierra has a Duramax, it may be the intake air heater or the fuel heater cycling on and off in the cold weather. But if its pulling the voltage down to 12V after warmup, I would suspect a poor battery. As suggested, get a load test at autozone or ??
