SOURCE: filling fuel tank on my 2005 impala is painfully slow

ONE THING YOU CAN CHECK IS THE SCREEN INSIDE THE FILL NECK BUT YOU MUST REMOVE THE TUBE THAT IS ON THE TANK. THERE IS A STRAINER ON THE BOTTOM OF THE TUBE THAT NOT ONLY PREVENTS SIPHONING OF THE FUEL BUT KEEPS DIRT AND LARGER PARTICLES FROM REACHING THE INSIDE OF THE TANK. IF THIS IS CLOGGED IT MAY HAVE BEEN VANDALS OR EVEN SMALL CHILDREN AT PLAY. IF THE CLAMP THAT HOLD THE NECK TO THE BOTTOM OF THE TANK IS THE CRIMP-ON TYPE THEN CAREFULLY CUT IT OFF THEN REPLACE WITH A STAINLESS ONE THAT CAN BE REUSED. HOPE THIS HELPS YOU. VERY CURIOUS TO KNOW. BUT EMISSIONWIZ KNOWS HIS STUFF SO I MAY BE WAY OFF. GOOD LUCK

SOURCE: problem filling gas tank

Sounds like you need a new filler neck. There is a vent, and it is part of the filler neck. Or there could be a bad valve at the bottom of the neck.

Have 2000 Impala that won't take gas. Pump sensing full tank and turning off. What could cause this? evap system?

There are two pipes that go from the fill port to the tank. One big one to let the fuel in and one small one to let the air out. If air cannot get out, fuel cannot get in. When fuel stops going in the fuel pump assumes the tank is full and shuts off. The small one is plugged somewhere, hopefully one of the small rubber hoses. A work-around is to fill the tank slow enough that the pump does not shut off.

To pump gas into my 2005 chev truck is a very slow process. The nozzel will kick off unless you go very slow

The nozzle may be going too far into the tank. Try holding the nozzle about half way into the tank fill tube.
