Open up the hood, remove the headlight covers then remove the cross mounting thing to the grill. Then gently push bottom of the grill down and out. Then the grill should basically just pop out. --------------------------------------------------------------------

Can you see the rear brake pads without taking the wheel off of a 2000 dually?

If you have drum brakes, no it is not possible.

If you have disk brakes, maybe. You will have to go under, and use a mirror and flashlight to check. Even then it is very hard to see the amount of wear, uneven wear, leakage, or any other problem.

Rear brake shoe replacement on a 98 chevy 3500 dually

If you have drums on the rer yes you do have to remove the axle its simple though you unbolt the 6-8 bolts on the end of the axle then it just simply slides out thats it there mite be some resistance but there isnt anything else holding it in. and you dont have to worry about putting it back into the same spot eather just slide it back in and line up the drum.

Need to replace brakes on 2000 GMC Safari. does it have disc brakes all around or drum rakse in rear?

Disc brakes in the front and drum brakes in the rear. Make sure that you repack the front bearing's with wheel grease before finishing the job.If the front rotors and or the rear drums have a rough brake pad surface, get them resurfaced before installing new brake pads or brake shoes in the rear. you can go online or your public library for complete instructions on how to replace the brakes on that vehicle.

I am trying to replace the rear brake pads on a vauxhall combo van, Y reg, I am having difficulty removing the brake drums, when I have done this before, there has been a adjustment screw which when undone...

There should be two small threaded holes, insert the proper size bolt inside and screw the bolts in, alternating a few turns at a time. This will force the drum off the brake shoes.

You should be able to just slack the brakes off and pull the drum. They aren't heavy.

2000 gmc both rear tire oil leakage.

You are correct, it's not brake fluid. Check the level in your rear axle, it sounds like you have bad seals in the axles allowing the rear differential gear oil to leak inside the brake drums.
This is a heavy weight oil, 80 or 90 weight. This leakage will ruin your brake pads, and if enough leaks out, your rear differential will blow. The seals aren't expensive, but it's a lot of labor to pull everything apart to get at the seals, plus new rear brakes. My Ford ( and I'm sure your GMC) require removal of the rear axles to change the seals. Good Luck! countrycurt0
