Just put on a new power steering pump, steering line and serpentine belt. Now the car won't start. It does crank, but won't turn over. Any suggestions?

Plymouth acclaim, the power steering went out a week or so started making a noise wen turning or taking off, I noticed the belt had a crack in it, tried to make it home & the belt just shredded apart,...

well as for the tear on the belt the power stering pump is proably not so good enymore if the pully spin with the belt then it no good and when your put the belt back make sure you got it on right if you crank it and the power steering pulley isint moving then your just gonna shred another belt after another

Serpentine belt keeps popping/slipping off

The power steering pump pulley must be flushed with the power steering pump shaft,Or else you will have noise or slips right off.12_11_2012_4_28_42_am.gif

Is it possible the broken belt damaged the crank or cam sensor ?
I can't see a way for the serpentine belt damaging the camshaft.
Was the engine running after the belt broke ?
Have you checked the computer for trouble codes ?

Power steering not working

Check you power steering fluid, and check the tension of the serpentine belt. If it isn't tight enough, the pump won't turn properly.

How much shaft end play is permissible in a 1994 ford taurus power steering pump? my serpentine belts keeps running off. the only thing that has any discernible end play is the power steering pump.

Next to none, that you should be able to feel

Suspect that the crank shaft damper pulley is worn out

You won't see misalignment but it is there

May have to lower sub frame on one side to get it off

My lexus sc 300 makes a squealing sound when I start it, and when I turn the wheels sharply to the right and left (while it is parked and running. My power steering pump supposedly has to be replaced,...

Hi Genebaran, I doubt very much if the steering pump needs replacement, but the drive serpentine belt does. The squealing happens because the belt is slipping on the pump pulley when the pump is under load when the steering is turned to full lock. By the way, don't keep the steering wheel at full lock for longer than a few seconds at a time, as it will place the pump under too much load! Tell your mechanic to fit a new belt. Advise the mechanic to make a sketch of the routing of the belt before he removes the old one. Regards Johngee10

The engine service light code says the cam shaft sensor is going out. Got a new cam sensor but cant get out because of the power steering pump in the way and won't let the sensor come all the way out...

Remove the serpentine belt. You will then be able to rotate the power steering pump pulley by hand. If you look through the holes in the pulley you will see the bolt heads that hold the pump in place. There will be three of them. Remove those bolts and you will be able to wiggle the power steering pump out of the way. There will also sometimes be a bracket behind the alternator that holds the power steering lines in place. You may have to remove that ad well.

Can I drive a 2003 saturn L200 without serpentine belt?

As crazy as it sounds, I don't see why not. Based on my limited knowledge of a 2002 L200, the power steering is run off the back of the camshaft and the water pump is driven by the timing belt. The only things the serpentine belt runs are the A/C and alternator. Obviously you won't make it very far running without an alternator, but at worst you kill your battery. Serpentine belt on a 2.2l 4 cylinder 2002 L200 has nothing to do with the water pump or power steering pump.

Car won't start??

Remove the serpentine belt and see if it cranks over. Something in that area screwed up to cause all that to happen. Breaking power steering pump pulleys is rare. I am assuming from your description that the starter won't crank the engine. If I am wrong please clarify.
