You could try adding power steering fluid and see if it makes a difference. If not, then you might want to replace the assembly

SOURCE: Olds silhouette heater blows cold air

as long as the engine temperature is normal, i would suspect a clogged heater core, the dex-cool antifreeze is notorious for building up deposits in cooling system. have heater core flushed first to see if it makes any difference

SOURCE: lower intake manifold gasket leaking 02 Olds Silhouette

This is basicly a very time consuming job rather than a physically hard one to complete. In order to replace the gasket you must remove the intake plenum, throttle body, and misc. vacuum hoses. The wiring harness connections must also be disconnected. Finally the intake manifold is exposed. The bolts holding the manifold to the block are removed exposing the leaking gasket. After removing the push rods and placing them in the correct order to be replaced the gasket and sealants can be removed. Finally replace everything in reverse order. Be sure to consult a GM manual for correct bolt torch specs. The correct specs for the manifold bolts usually come with the gasket. Make sure to change your oil a few times after this job in case any coolant entered the block. Also, change the thermostat and the oil seal on the distributor half shaft cap while you have everything off. Good Luck

Can't get rid of Power Steering noise on my 2001 Oldsmobile Silhouette

You haven't described the noise or whether the noise increases when the pump is under load, or perhaps that is the only time it makes a noise?

As you undoubtedly know some noise is natural when a fluid is being forced through hoses and orifices under great pressure and some systems are noisier than others, especially when the steering is on full lock and all the surplus pressure is diverted through the relief valve.

Perhaps there is an inherent fault that is causing the fluid to become aerated or perhaps it is something more basic and the drive pulley alignment is off.
Perhaps it is a matter of poor routing of hoses and pipes transmitting normal noise into the body and amplifying it.

I believe there are additives available that can help lessen some of the noises of complaining oil.

Why is my power steering pump still screaming?

The screaming is caused by the pressure relief valve located inside the pump body opening.

This means that power steering fluid that should be circulating through the power steering servo is partially blocked.

This could be a safety problem in the making. I strongly suggest you take it to a trustworthy shop for a checkout.

My power steering pump resevoir is leaking any ideas.

Is it leaking out of the reservoir itself,or is it leaking out f the reservoir cap? If the power steering is overfilled, it will leak out the vents in the cap when the fluid gets hot. It may also be a bad seal on the cap. Replace the cap if the seals are bad. If the reservoir itself is leaking, the only option is to replace the reservoir.

My powersteering pump keeps making a loud noise replaced it twice when I take the cap off alot of air like the air is stuck kinda like when u open a new jar the lid pops that's what it sounds like could my...

One possibility is that the steering rack needs to be replaced. If it is binding up, it takes more work for the power steering pump and puts an extra burden on the pump. Since you have replaced it twice, this seems very likely.

Where is the pressure hose to the powersteering unit located on a 2001 olds silhouette?

It is connected to the rack and pinion and leads all the way to the power steering pump which has a pulley on it.
It may have 1 or 2 rubber bends on it with steel on the rest.
The pressure hose carries higher pressure than the return line.

hope this helps.

Power steering pump and cap has been replaced 3 times but there is still a leak. What could be causing this? There is a lot of built up pressure when removing the cap.

The cap should be vented, if I'm not mistaken. Check to see if dirt may have clogged the vent and is causing excessive pressure when the fluid heats up. Good luck.
