Use a flat head screw driver and a hammer and tap the tabs on the ring that hold your fuel pumpin the tank. the ring unscrews.

The fuel pump relay is under the hood in the MAXI fuse box, it is a black box with a huge wiring bundle comming out of it.

yes you have to drop the tank. you will also need a fuel line tool to unhook the fuel lines. before you drop the tank see if tou can reach and wiggle the electrical connection on the top of the tank. these pumps have a pigtail issue. please rate

Getting to the fuel tank through the backseat? 95' MGM

When I hear situation like this I do it for free,You cant go through the backseat,The fuel tank has to be dropped,Its better to pump the fuel out of the tank From there you need to remove the fuel lines, then you need to remove the fuel inlet hose,Once you have the fuel tank down then you will need to remove the fuel pump flange, one removed you now have access to the fuel pump

There is possibility that the fuel has gone bad and has become gummy(fuel doesn't last like it used to)...this may have gummed up the fuel pump and sort of locked it up...you may need to replace the fuel pump...which is inside the fuel tank...one good way to test if this is problem is to remove the fuel filter and then turn on the key and try cranking to see if any fuel comes out..if it does then you may need to replace the fuel filter..if not, then the fuel pump

Fuel pump

The fuel pump for the 1995 Mercury Grand Marquis is inside the gas tank. Early this year the Ford garage replaced it thinking it would fix a problem that was ultimately traced to a short that blew a component on the computer board. I ended up paying for the fuel pump, but just paid the material cost for the computer board.
