Question about Oldsmobile Cars & Trucks

2 Answers

My 2001 Olds Aurora is leaking antifreeze. Someone looked and said it was a cap, that you can only get from the dealership. Any ideas to what the name of the cap is?

It is leaking near the radiator area, but it doesn't have a radiator cap.

I can't take a picture, because it is leaking from underneath the radiator. A mechanic says it has a leak coming from a cap, but he dosen't know the name. But my boyfriend keeps saying it is the radiator.

The cap is on the 'overflow bucket' near the fender well. Those radiators have plastic tanks on the sides and they will crack over time. Many won't leak until the car is warmed up and the plastic expands, opening the crack.

It's leaking near the radiator, not the overflow bucket. But thanks!

I have had this issue on my 99 for over 4 yrs now. Could never find the leak. Until yesterday I had to climb under the car and fix my steering. Where I live right now is freezing and I noticed orange antifreeze frozen in the bottom radiator hose. And a small leak out the bottom of the water pump housing. As my leak was always small but only leaked when I stopped and parked in drive way. I hope this helps.

2001 olds aurora running hot and i noticed fluid coming from little black box by engine, looks like antifreeze, whats deal with this?

I assume the "little black box" referred to is the front fuse panel. Next to it, towards the windshield is the coolant overflow canister. At the base of these there is a metal coolant line that is clamped to the car body. After years of vibration this starts to leak. Not too difficult to replace.

1998 olds Aurora i have an oil leak, is it common

There are common places, you'll just have to look around to see where the leak is:
Around the oil filter and the housing
Around the oil pan and the pan gasket
The oil seal behind the damper pulley
Valve cover gaskets
These are the most common places, leaks can spring up anywhere.

I have a 2001 jeep grand cherokee losing antifreeze no leaks.

This is a hands on diag. If no leaks can be found then the coolant has to be going out the tailpipe. Chances are you have a cracked head or a cracked block. New gasget only temporarily sealed the crack. But then we are just guessing.

Leaking antifreeze

Check your hoses entering your block and radiator. you may need to bring your vehicle into a garage and ask for a "Pressure Test" this will indicate if you have a crack or leak.
Good Luck.
