1995 Ford Aerostar 3.0L Engine missses badly when cold, but seems to disappear when the engine is warmed up. Have replaced coil, plugs, wires, cap and rotor. What can be the problem?

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

It can be a bad fuel filter. During cold start ups the dirt and rust on the filter is blocking the fuel flow that's why it misses. But once the dirt and rust is loosen the fuel flow is normalized. As a first course of action, I strongly suggest that you replace the fuel filter.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

1989 Ford aerostar van sputters and stalls.

have you had the throttle cleaned? Sounds like your fuel pump may be getting hot and cutting out. Its possible it could be a faulty ignition module, but that usually just causes a no start not a suptter and stall.

I have a 92 ford aerostar van, is there a diagram available that shows where the fuel pump AND the filter is located?

the fuel filter is under the vehicle under the driver side seating area. and the fuel pump is in the tank itself and must be dropped to replace if you would like a diagram try joining for free and they have many free diagrams of your vehicle for service reference

Is there a way I can check myself to see if there is something in my gas tank that is clogging the lines or fuel filter

Easiest way (although not very safe) - Remove a fuel line, and turn the engine over to see if gasoline comes out. Just be very careful you clean up the leaked gasoline. Also, your car is probably fuel injected so the fuel lines may be pressurized. You'll have to bleed the pressure or you'll get sprayed.

How do i change a fuel filter on a 1996 ford van aerostar? The fuel filter came with 2 plastic pieces and i need to know where they go?

The two plastic pieces go on each side of the filter. You push both of the plastic tools inward while pulling the fuel lines outward. Make sure you remove gas cap to relieve fuel pressure before removing filter. An icecream bucket may be handy.

1997 Aerostar 4 liter engine has miss on several cylinders. New wires and plugs. Miss is intermintent. Usually worse under load. At times van runs fine.

check for vacume leaks on intake and other vacume hoses. random misfire is also usually a clogged fuel filter or pressure regulator. could also be a cam or knock sensor. are their any trouble codes.

1993 aerostar won't fire

has the vehicle been jared like a fender bender, i had this problem and found a black box that has a red button that had poped out. push in and reset and i was fine. when you turn the ignition to point before start you should hear the pump cycle and stop ( in the fuel tank). this stoped when button popped up.. the switch was located in wall behind passangers seat near rocker pannel, if memory is correct.
