SOURCE: what color is the wire to the iginition

There a 2 red battery feed wires going into the ignition switch. When you turn the switch to start, battery voltage goes out on the heavy gage purple or yellow wire to the clutch switch or park/neutral switch ( manual or automatic) then to the starter solenoid.
Hope this helps, let me know.

My 92 GMC won't keep a charge after i bought new battery and alternator. Checked all wiring and fuses still stays around 10 volts with new battery and alternator

Did you check for B+ voltage at the alternator with DVOM - digital volt ohm meter ? The heavier gage wire on the back of the alternator should have battery voltage on it. How wires are there in the connector at the alternator ? Does the battery symbol light lit up on the instrument cluster with the key on engine off ? Does the light go off when vehicle is started ?
1992 GMC what ? Look for blown fusible link at battery junction block located on the fire wall near or behind brake booster !

How to attach 6 red wires on 1998 ford contour

The biggest diameter wire goes to biggest fuse. All the wires to the fuse box are the same. Doesn't matter which goes where. The alternator wire goes to the side of the panel. 175 amp fuse.

I have 1985 GMC 4/4 it keeps popping fuseable link on fire wall I have checked all the wiring. The red wire that into the fire wall the fuse block show to have direct short when the ignition switch is

I'm not sure which one you are talking about, if I remember correctly there are 2 on the firewall. One is a 16 guage wire which protects all red 12 guage wiring. The other is a 20 guage wire that protects the generator warning light and the field circuitry on the alternator. It will be protecting a 16 guage wire.

Battery not charging..good alternator...internal regulated alternator

that year 1986 alternator voltage regulator either external or internal follow alternator battery feed wire if you see battery feed wire going to black box mounted on fire wall you have external voltage regulator.if voltage regulator okay problem could be alternator fuse or fuse link could be faulty battery cables if cables over 20 years old but make sure alternator drive belt tension correct.

From the diagram I am looking at, the red wire is the hot feed to the fuse block. it also loops back to the alternator and is plugged into the alternator along with a brown wire. I'm also looking at another leg that goes to the horn relay. What I'd do there is cut the wire right at the fuse block and replace it with another of the same gauge. Run it to the alternator, also removing the original wire. I'd check the alternator and make sure it's not internally shorting, check the wire from the battery to the alternator as well and also check the horn relay. While testing, I'd install an in-line 40 or 50 amp fuse in the line 'till I was sure it's working right. One good don't have an elaborate computer system to contend with! Remember....'vettes are more like boats in that they require grounds in places normal cars don't. (because of fiberglass body) So, always make sure your ground points are good. If you still have a problem, I'll be happy (not really....I hate reading schematics) to look again and give you more if I can.
Good luck!!

1999 corolla cigarette lighter does not work. Looked in the owners manual and the same fuse controls the clock. Since the clock works it can not be the fuse.

I don't have the owner's manual, but I do have the wiring diagrams for your vehicle. According to the wiring diagrams, the information that you have is not correct. The cigarette lighter circuit is protected by the "CIG" fuse in the Instrument Panel Junction Box behind the left side of the dash at the lower finish panel. It is a 15 Amp fuse. The clock circuit is protected by the "DOME" fuse in the Engine Room Junction Block on the left side of the engine compartment.

Have a 95 tacoma sr5. power windows stopped working about 2 years ago, but the locks work fine. motors have been checked and work. 30a power fuse is getting power, but there is no hot coming into the...

Is there a relay center under the dash? that might logically be where a window relay would be.
How about this? The 30 amp fuse, if there is no relay, would only have power when ignition key is in on or ACC. Test that- If fuse has power at all times, there must be a relay. but if fuse only has power in ON or ACC, I would think there is no relay and you might have a broken wire between the fuse and the switch . I am only guessing, so keep looking, if the diagram shows a relay, there could be one.

Your vehicle is equipped with two fuel pump relays. Both are located on the junction block which is located behind left end of dash. You will need to test both of them to ensure they are working properly. Let me know how they test out.

The plug that connects to the alternator has three

Yes the White wire is the reason. It goes to the Internal Regulator.
As you view the connector that plugs into your alternator, look at where the lock tab is.
Lock tab on TOP. The Black wire goes to the Left side. The White wire goes to the Right side.

The Black wire, ties into the Red wire down in the wire loom. (The Red wire goes to the starter solenoid, and this is connected straight to the battery. This is why the Red, AND the Black wire, are both Hot wires)

The White wire goes through the bulkhead wire loom, and to the bulkhead connector.

(Down under the steering shaft, and on the firewall, you'll see a rectangular Black box shape, with a Bunch of wires, coming into it from the engine compartment. The bulkhead connector is two pieces. Following it through the firewall, the other side of it is the fuse panel)

Where the White wire connects in the fuse panel,
it should go straight to the ACC fuse. (Accessory)
