Sounds logical but haven't had a chance to change it. The VIN data shows that I have a 3.4L V6 OHV 12V engine type and I haven't found any parts for this size engine. Maybe VIN data is wrong?

All parts I find say that the engine is 3.3L SFI.

You can have a bad idle air control valve or a throttle position sensor

I have a 2000 Nissan frontier crew cab 2wd 3.3 motor with automatic,in the mornings I will warm it up and when I put it in drive I have to wait from 30 to 45 seconds to a minute before it goes in gear

please check fluid level again

use this technique please
DRIVE FOR 15-30 MINUTES TO WARM UP TRANNY
1 find FLAT GROUND
2START ENGINE WITH FOOT ON BRAKE

3 PUT IT INTO DRIV- WAIT15 SECONDS

SHIFT INTO EVERY GEAR AND LEAVE FOR 15 SEC-30 SEC BEFORE NEXT GEAR

RETURN TO PARK

CHECK FLUID LEVEL- ADD AS NEEDED- IT SHOULD NOT SMELL BURNT if this happens in every gear while driving, may be torque converter- take to good tranny shop for inspection- happy trails

2003 nissan frontier stalls when i slam on the brakes

Check oil level, but might be idle motor going bad. The idle motor kicks down the idle as needed as the rpm dictates. If sudden reduction in rpm occurs the idle motor normally keeps up and motor continues running at reduced idle. Unless its going out on you, then you may experience stalling when speed is suddenly reduced such as hard braking.

i know this may sound stupid but if your battery is old or a little weak on this vehicle the idle air control solenoid will act speradicley hunting for were it should be and the vehicle will stall.replace battery
